It's really a shame.
As all you know, the latest version of the Beomaster5 has an integrated Hard disk of 1 Tb capacity; that's not enough in case you have a lot of music to store in (that's my case).
In this case, B&O indicates to add a NAS, linked with the Beosound/Beomaster5 with an ethernet lan.
B&O also indicates the NAS must be a Iomega (now Lenovo); in case of any other brand they do not give any assistance.
So one year ago I did purchase a iomega NAS; I asked the price to some dealer, and anyone asked me why I wanted that kind of NAS, being present in the market more brands at the same price and more reliables than that.
But I did buy that Iomega Nas, and it was a complete disaster: the device never work, once I lost all the data stored in, and neither B&O and Iomega gave me any assistance.
Now, one year later, I decided to throw away the Iomega NAS and to replace it with a Qnap, and it seems it's working properly.
I do not any comment........
I have iomega for two years, but never had problems you have described. All my ripped bluray are stored on it. i am very satisfied with iomega.

smile and enjoy the moment
Personally I would also go for the Synology.
The DLNA server-software is the important thing here - not that much which brand the NAS is.
I guess that B&O at that moment (way back) had tested the Iomega, and for that reason recommended it.
They would hardly recommend a NAS that has not been tested with the BS5.

There is a tv - and there is a BV
Dear Ptbb, you are a very lucky man. But not everyone has the same luck. Anyway, the purpose of my post is that B&O recommended the Iomega NAS and, when I had the problems did not give me any assistance. This could be too bad even for an unknown company that produces cheap devices. But we are talking about B&O......
You are right, the Iomega became Lenovo and its nas it's a complete disaster. I provided to replace it with a Qnap NAS and it's working fine. it looks like a dream......
Any suggestions on how to get BM5 to send the WOL (WakeOnLan) magic package so my NAS does not have to be running all times.
I know my QNAP will take 10 minutes or so to boot but its only in the events that we wish to listen to music outside the scheduled awake hours of the NAS.
Just a sidenote: Do not have both DNLA server and TwonkyServer services running at the same time on QNAP NAS. Beomaster 5 will get very confused and will generate new MOTS every time it wakes up.
Thanks
blurays?
I was talking ìbout the iomega nas with Beosound 5......
Hello, I did the same thing with my iomega. Trash bin hit the most proper place for it.
The problem is that now that I replaced the iomega with a Qnap (that it seems it works great), the Mots starts analysing the tracks, reach to 10/12% and it blocks. I tried more and more times and it's always the same.
So I am still using the Beomaster 5 HD, that is full of music files....
Did you get to usr your nas with the Beosound 5?
