Hi,

I bought a HDD (WD 2 TB) the other day to be able to record programs (direct order from SHMBO: Record Game of Thrones!).

I have no problem with starting a direct recording. I can also pause any program and continue again. These recordings can be saved on the HDD and be whatched later again.

But I can't manage timer recordings! I used the program guide and pressed red dot twice so the wanted programs where underscored by a red line. In the timer list I could se all coming recordings. But when I got home and should watch the game (handboll, not thrones) the HDD was empty. No recordings to be found!

Is there something I missed? There seems to be no fault on HDD, as I can make and watch direct recordings, so it must be either Avant or me that's malfunctioning.

Hi Daniel,

might this problem be related to the other thread 'Avant frustrations' where the EPG is the problem?  Have you read that thread?  Seems there may be an issue with EPG depending on software/satellite used etc.

More importantly - did your other complain that GoT wasn't recorded?  You can put them out at night you know if they do!

Yes, I even posted in that thread. ;-)

But I don't believe that's the problem here as I can see them in the timer list of coming recordings. The problem is that the planned recordings in the list never take place.

Is there any one who managed to perform a timer recording on the Avant? I still have no success.

Problem solved! I had a technician over for service of the Avant (he changed the front glass due to dark spots on the inside of the glass). He told me I need two antenna cables in as I have satellite TV. This was not stated with one single word in the manual. It only says I need a hard disk with USB 2.0.

As I have no more room in the cable tubes in the walls he changed the satellite head and made a split of the antenna cable so I now have two cables in. Voila, it works!
