Here in UK, on Thursday, we had a large bolt of lightening.
It tripped the power in the house, and everything went off. Power back on,then all seemed ok.
Turned on the Beo 9, and it won't come on.... The light on top of the tv/ sensor goes green, and it also triggers the green light on the speakers, but nothing else.
The beosystem 3 has a light on it that is orange....
Do we think we have severe damage? I do hope not.....
Welcome to Beoworld.
Bad news indeed. How long was the power off for? Is the BS3 PIN protected?
Disconnect everything from the mains for a while (several minutes) and reconnect it all again and see what happens. This may reboot them. If not, the orange light is usually on B&O things a not good sign and indicates some sort of error. Sometimes just a cable connection error - see this old thread on a BS3 problem (last post especially):

Maybe a call to your local B&O service department may be called for.
Not meant as a dig to you or others (I've not done it in the past either) but this shows how illogical it is to invest a lot of money in products like these and then not spend a few pounds extra on surge protectors. We have power blips and violent thunder storms all the time here in this part of France and we haven't had a problem with faults like this due to the surge protectors kicking in.
Can you try the TV alone with speakers directly into the TV- not connected to the BS3 at all to see if the TV at least will work without the BS3. If it does, your TV is OK and the only problem is with the BS3.
I hope for the best.
Dave.
Will be difficult to try the speakers on a BV9 without the BeoSystem3
MM
There is a tv - and there is a BV
Millemissen: Will be difficult to try the speakers on a BV9 without the BeoSystem3 MM
I haven't got one (or the BS3) so wasn't aware of that. Though the products section says that the BV9 has 6 Powerlink outputs. I'm only trying to help and give some ways of getting it working or helping diagnose the problem.
I hate those smarta**e whistling emoticons. So smug.
Keep it cool - no offend intendet
I'm on a short fuse today!
As I've just edited, the BV9 supposedly has 6 Powerlink outputs. Can these not be used directly to speakers then? Does everything have to go through the BS3? I don't understand the set-up. I'm a vintage kind of guy.
ps. Thanks for the smiley - that's better.
All items were plugged into surge protector extensions.
Orange light signals power, green light surge protection.
The green light Is now not lit....
Dave. Thanks for replying. Also, I'm a novice with B&O...
Think the Beo 9 has no direct inputs, so has to run through the Beo 3. I will take a speaker over to a friends later... He can plug into his set up to test...
The BV9 is essentially a BeoSystem 3, a BeoLab 7.4 and a 50" Plasma screen - all cobbled together in a big box! It's a "one-stop BeoVision 4" really..
You can actually remove the BeoSystem 3 from the rear of the BV9 fairly easily, then take it to a service centre to have inspected. Much easier than transporting the whole TV. I'm almost certain the BeoSystem 3 will need repair - but the good news is that it's not too damaged to bring the amber light on, which does unfortunately mean it's not happy with life and needs looking at....
Good quality surge protectors are a MUST for Televisions. Price versus benefits makes it a no-brainer. I've found the BeoVision 7 to be the most vulnerable to surges, and the Tube Screens and BV5 the most 'hardy'. However, I was told by a customer that a lightning strike had even skipped his surge protectors and decimated his kit the other day..
So - my first step would be to remove the BeoSystem 3 and have it looked at.
Lee
Lee, thanks for detailed response.
Sent you a mail...
orange light is on the beo3.... There's no light when off, turned on it goes green for a couple of seconds, then flashes orange/green, then is orange.
Light on top of beo 9/ sensor is red when off/standby, green when on. I get no sound of fans whirring, and curtains on screen don't open - no picture/no sound. I assume it all runs through the B3? If that was ok, would I get sound but no picture? Or if it's the screen, I would get no picture but sound?
I assume it's the B3 full stop as all inputs run through that?
Bit worried now, as it looks like insurance won't cover me for full amount :-(
As Lee already said, The Beosystem 3 (BS3) is the engine of your BV9 - for video and audio. With all connections , Scart, HDMI for video, builtin tuners, pucs, suround decoders and preamps for audio.
Maybe worth trying to disconnect all plugs, Powerlink, antenna, Masterlink (is a Masterlinksystem connected?) after you have disconnect the BV from the mains, and reconnect just the BV9 to the mains without connecting ML, PL....Maybe the fault is in a connected device...?
just an idea....
Stefan
Hi!
I need some help.
Maybe i will buy Beovision 9 MK2 without beosystem3.
Possible that connect directly to pc via HDMI?
Best regards
