Hi everyone!!!
i have a question. I have a BV11-55" home theatre set-up with four BL18s and one BL 19. I spoke to the dealer here and asked him to add a beosound essence to my set up. He told me that since the 18s and 19 are connected directly to the BV 11 (using transmitter 1), the beosound essence cannot be connected directly with the 18s and the 19. He would have to connect the essence through the BV11 which means that every time I wish to listen to music through the essence, I would have to turn on the TV. Is it true? Coz if it is, then it doesn't make any sense. I might as well just connect an external hard drive/ Apple TV to my TV to listen to music.
Any information on the above would be highly appreciated.
thanks everyone.
Hi
It is true that you would have to 'turn on the tv', if the Essence is connected directly.
But that is also the case, if you connect an external harddrive for music, or listen through the ATV - or through Spotify/Deezer.
The tv/the BV11 is the control center for everything - you choose the name of the source, which Speakers Group is used,
which button on the remote is used to activate that specific source etc etc.
However you can always 'mute the picture', when listening to audio only - in some configurations the screen would be blank anyway.
Did your dealer tell you how he intends to connect the Essence to the BV11?
And how you are supposed to activate that source/which button to be used?

There is a tv - and there is a BV
Thank you for your response. Nope, the technician did not tell me how he would be installing the beosound essence to my existing set up. Would i need to buy another transmitter? I already have a transmitter which is connecting the 18s and 19 to my beovision 11. Can I not just buy a beosound essence remote and use it with the same transmitter?
Unfortunately, spotify and deeper don't work here in India :(
I would just put the Essense directly in the transmitter through the RCA plug in. Then problem solve.
Beovision Harmony 77" 2nd Gen, Beolab 5, Beolab 17, Beosound 1, Beoplay M3, Beoplay Portal, Beoplay Earset, Beoliving Intelligence
The 'little problem' is that the Transmitter is designed for only one input - either a B&O (PL) or the RCA/Toslink. For changing this you have to flip the little switch beside the input.
Would work - but is not 'workable' in an everyday solution.
I would certainly not recommend it.

I was just wondering, since the dealer seemed to have a solution?
The BV11 however has an analog input - that is the small multi-port.
This can be used for an analog source. If you connect the PL-out of the Essence (one of them) with a 'special cable' (available at the B&O shop), you will get sound from the Essence to the BV11.
As you can configure that input-port as you like, you could name it 'Radio' and assign the 'Radio' button (or rather the code that it sends) to it.
You (or the dealer) would then have to reconfigure the Essence-knob to send an ir-code (the Radio-code). And the Essence must be configured for a 'fixed line out' (in the app).
Pushing the knob/the Radio button on Beo4 would this way let you stream from the BeoMusic app to the Essence and open the right port on the BV (the analog). The volumen is controlled via Beo4/BV11.
Not a 100 percent solution - but bear in mind that the Essence mainly is a standalone system!
I don't know, if it is this kind of solution, that the dealer has in mind - but I can't come up with any other for 'adding an Essence to your existing setup'.
So I am very keen to hear what the dealer had in mind!
Note: If you have a NL/ML Converter somewhere in your setup, there is another way of doing this!
Personally I would choose a Playmaker (you can still get them) for streaming/AirPlaying to the BV11, since you loose most of the magic of the Essence, when you would make the above solution.
If there is a NL/ML Converter (located In a 'good place'), I would prefer to add it to that/the line-in instead.
Would be interesting to hear the thoughts of a dealer/installer on this subject - anyone in the forum?
But - of cource I am also waiting to see, what the Moment brings

You don't always have a (spare) aux on an AudioMaster - and you are limited to use the command 'A.Aux' (alternatively in some cases 'A.Tape).
If you connect it to the line-in of the converter, you - of cource - would have to open that port with a command from/button on the Beo4, but you could still use the 'knob' as a bluetooth remote!
