Dear Beolites

I've been waiting for years (literally!) for our trusty Avant 28RF VCR to die. But it just keeps going. Picture and Sound are still excellent, and the motorized stand receives comments from visitors even up until today. But it is now just too small and with no HDMI connections online content remains out of reach.

Dealers here in Germany are offering free delivery and installation together with interest-free financing until the end of October so I think the time is finally right to upgrade.

But...

A short time after I bought our Beocenter 2300 the Beosound 3000 was released.

By the time the old Avant was delivered the DVD version was released.

I don't want to get a new Avant to find out a MK2 is just around the corner

Could the fact that there is a special offer on suggest that they are trying to clear stocks to make room for a new model? I know a MK2 will arrive eventually but it doesn't need to be released days after I get my MK1.Smile

The offer I have for the Avant includes a Harddisk and an AppleTV, both at much higher prices than usual. The explanation was that they will be configured to operate with the Avant and  BeoRemote. Is this configuration really anything special? Does it warrant a massive uplift on the prices? I may go for the AppleTV and add a Harddisk later.

I was planning to mount our BS 6000 speakers on the wall to the right and left, but have been told the original wall mounts are no longer available. I may test them on the floor first and get the "clones" (in a positive sense) from STBBrackets later.

I am planning to lay the cables in the wall. Anything I should watch for?

Looking forward to your comments as much as I am looking forward to my new telly!

regards

Tim

Hi

I have wall mounted a pair of bl6000 for a relative with a bv 11 55. It is really beautifull but the original sound of the 6000 has suffered of this choice.

They loose completely their bass. The sound is completely flat.

For the cable remember that you have to use rj45 to powerlink cable or adapter for the tv as they don't have any powerlink input.

For the rest, wait and see in order to avoid your previous deceptions.

4 beolab 5,  beolab 9, beolab 10, beolab 5000, beolab 8000 mk2, beolab 6002, beolab 3500, beovision 7 55 mk2,  2 beovision 11 46 mk4, beotime, beosound ouverture, beosound essence, beoplay A8, beomaster 900 RG de luxe and the collection continues...

The AppleTV should be updated soon. If you buy the avant now with an apple tv, you are basically getting a 4k tv that you show 1080p material on.

I would wait until there are updates that lets you use the 4k that you are paying for...

I am not sure why they are uplifting the price of the appleTV, it is really simple to connect and configure it. And as said, a new one should be coming out soon, so i would just wait. Or you can also look at the Mac Mini as an alternative - for the less/same price as the HDD you can get a 1Tbyte mac mini.

BV11-55, BS9000, BL1, BL19, Transmitter 1, Beo4, Beocom 6000, BeoTalk1 200, Sennheiser HD600, McIntosh MHA100

Unless their quote includes brackets on the back of the BV (eg from STB) I think you would paying too much

Ordered the Avant last week...

Will arrive and be installed by my dealer on WednesdayBig Smile

The initial install of the motorized wall stand will be sort of temporary, as we will not be putting the cables into the wall until the spring.

I didn't want to decorate now before the winter and heating with the wood-burner.

As I understand it the TV must be set up for either the Remote One or the Beo4 but can't use both at the same time.

We will see....

regards

I also took the plunge and mine is scheduled to arrive 17 December.  I was also concerned if a MK2 would be around the corner, but considering that formats aren't really changing (from VCR to DVD) etc, I thought if the Apple TV does change, I have ordered the bracket for it to be mounted externally so that it will be easier to change it.

Good luck with the Install.  We don't have free installation here in Australia - we just get the price rise lol.  So the way i thought it is, that the price will go up by $1000 which is probably what its going to cost to install :-( so i'm getting installation for free LOL.

Would love to see some pictures when it's up and running :-)
