I'm new to the forums on this site so I'd like this opportunity to say hello to everyone. I bought from eBay a while back what was advertised and appeared (from the pictures and write up) to be a good condition Beogram 5005 to connect to my Beomaster 5500. At the time of buying there were no affordable Beogram 5500's available on eBay. When the turntable arrived, it was in very good condition cosmetically as advertised, however the seller had forgotten to secure the deck mechanism using the transit screws prior to shipping, which meant that during it's travels, the tone arm pivot triangle broke off rendering the deck useless which is a pity (the other parts of the deck mechanism are okay). Would there be any recommended specialists that anyone knows of that I could contact to arrange for the repair of the Beogram, if such a repair is possible?

Thanks, Paul

Welcome to the forum! I've had a similar experience in the past. Sometimes the parts are hard to come by and it is actually cheaper to buy another unit. I had to do that when the BG5000 was damaged beyond repair. I bought a BG5005 instead and sold the 5000 as a parts only unit to recoup my costs. A shame, but it comes with the territory. Good luck with whatever you do.

Of course it can be repaired and your Beogram is welcome by me in Denmark but shipping back and
forth could be a little costly.
Depending on where you are in the UK, I would suggest asking Tim Jarman.
He is extremely good with the older pieces - but also very busy.
His website beocentral.com is the place to contact him.

Hi Dom. Thanks for your reply and your thoughts on the matter. Sorry to hear that you had a similar experience in the past. I’d like to get this unit repaired if the cost is not prohibitory expensive as once done, it will be a great sounding, good looking deck to partner with the BM5500.

Hi Martin. Thanks for your reply. That is fantastic news a repair is possible. I’ll contact Tim Jarman as you have suggested to ask for his help. I’ll let you know the outcome.

Paul

have you since had the repair as I have the same problem with my 5005 tone arm not staying in the raised position.

the B&O service repairer has informed me that the part is no longer available Triangle piece for the rod to lower.

I am trying to scour the internet for any possible repairs or parts.

thank you

John
