HI there - does anyone know where a socket unit for a BeoCenter 2 can be purchased. I believe they are discontinued. I have tried a B & O store but they say they can not supply.
Thanks

I don't understand, the BC2 is still advertised on the B&O website? Why wouldn't you be able to get a socket box/spares?

I heard that once a Beocenter 2 player and socket are married together it is not possible to replace the socket unit.  The player needs the original socket to work.  I would check with your dealer.

There are two versions of the Beocentre2, mark 1 & mark2.*

You need to identify which version your BeoCentre2 head unit is. Then you can search for the matching socket box. You can replace the socket box but it must match teh version of head unit.

I beleive the difference relates to the DVD mechanism that was changed when the mark2 came into production.

Good luck

* There are of course different variants within each mark number, DVD or audio only and with or without DAB. You need to establish if it is a mark1 or a mark2. If you are unsure, post the 4 digit type number of yoru head unit.

Just out of interest, do you know which year/model number where the switch to the MKII was made?

Thank you to everyone who answered. Great advice and was just in process of gaining extra info you suggested from b and o dealer selling head unit for which I was trying to find switch to match, but they pulled head unit off eBay as sold via another source before end of auction!

Disapponted to say the least as you had kindly provided info.

Thanks again.

Hi

I wouldnt be too disapointed about not getting the BC2 head unit, "MUGGINS HERE BROUGHT IT"!! and am I having problems getting it matched to the socket unit, my local B&O store Norwich is attempting to sort out the firmware cable but it will incure quite a bit of expense, The BC2 when you select Disc reads " starting up please wait" then it wont play. Even after I have replaced the laser mech! So youre probably the winner in the long run. :-) but when I get it sorted it will be greaat its a beautifully crafted piece of kit.
