Quick question!

Can one operate a Beovision 1 TV with no remote control? If yes, is one limited in any way or can you access the same exact options as with the remote?

Many thanks!

Welcome to Beoworld.

The remotes are key in operating B&O TV's.  Either the BEO4 or Beolink 1000 are the cheapest and best options for your BV1.  Do you not have a remote or does it not work somehow?  They can be found quite cheaply on eBay etc.

TV's can be turned on and off and some have a button for changing channels but that's about it unless you have a remote.

I'm sure there are plenty of people here with spare remotes that might be available if you need one.

Dave.

Dave, many thanks for your quick reply.

A relative can pass me a Beovision 1 with no remote but I didn't want to make the trip if it wasn't going to be a working set.

What to do you consider cheap? I had found some BEO4 going for around $70 or in the £50 range if it's an auction, more expensive for "buying now" but was not aware of the what seems like cheaper option if going down the Beolink 1000 route.

Thanks again for your (or anyone else's) help.

If you updta eyour profile, we'll be able to see where you are in the world.

The Beolink 1000 will work but will have limitations but the BEO4 is more versatile and looks a lot neater with its onscreen display.  Newer ones are still up to £100 or so but older ones (you don't need the joystick version or even the DVD version necessarily).

If it's your first B&O TV, go for it.  Try it for a while.  The CRT pictures are still very good and depending on where you're thinking of using it and what for, it could be ideal - especially as it's free.

Thanks again Dave.

I updated my profile as suggested, thanks.

I am looking at using the Beovision 1 exclusively for my retro console collection.

OK, so you won't need most of the TV"s functions to operate from the remote, or the range of things available via the BEO4?  Depending on what you want to control via a remote, A Beolink 1000 may be enough.

What will you want to control by remote - apart from turning the TV on and off, volume control and what else?

I believe a Beolink 1000 would be all you need.

hey man, im practically in the same situation... Got a possibility of getting a beovision 1... But it comes with no remote, i want to use for retro gaming with RGB-PI

Did you manage with your tv and remote?  I would like to use the dvd too sometimes, but thats not a deal breaker. Would like a cheap universal remote if posible

could you let me know?

thx

The original Beovision 1 (and Beocenter 1) were controlled by the Beo 1 remote. They then changed to Beo 4 later. The Beo 1 is a fabulous design but relied too much on the TV menu to work. If you aren't using the TV fully then the Beo 1 will probably do for you. They go for under £30 here in UK.

technov1king, I just re-read your post, if you have the built in DVD, then yours will be a Beocenter 1, and the Beo 1 will control the DVD.

Well i cant seem to find that remote here in the Netherlands. And i think 30 pound is a rather step amount regarding most of these tvs are free to pick up.

You cannot control it without a remote. I have looked at my Beocenter 1 and you can only open and close the DVD. That turns the TV on but no other control possible. There are 2 buttons,  one physical button for the DVD tray and 1 physical button for power on/off. But the TV should remain on (in Standby) not off.

I also have just tried a One For All UR-7120 (universal remote) and that can control the TV but not the DVD.

Edit - the Beovision 1 will be the same. No control without a remote.

Also, if you do decide to take the TV, ensure you get the pin number (if it is activated) otherwise you will not be able to use the TV at all.
