Is there anyone in Australia who is willing and able to work on 60's 70's B&O equipment?

The locals around here just look frightened whenever I ask.

I am in Northern NSW, so closer to Brisbane than anywhere else.

Whatever happens it will be taken to and from by a furniture removalist or myself, I have had EVERYTHING I have ever bought on ebay damaged or destroyed by the time it reaches me here.

Is there anyone up my way?

I am living in the Gold Coast and might be able to help.  Much depends on the particular items that you want to repair.  Have worked on many B&O's from the 70's and 80's but it has purely been a hobby and not a business - so no guarantees.  Interested in hearing what you want fixed but not sure how far away you are.

Regards

Geoff

Hi Geoff,

I have a 900K that could sound better as well as a 3400.

Both could do with an overhaul.

Menahem sells kits to do up the 3400, I think he has a particular fondness for this model.

I bought both items on ebay from Europe and they were both damaged in transit, but still function to a certain extent but not well. I'm sure they could sound better.

I am in Murwillumbah so it you're on the Goldy then we are virtually neighbours.

Hi Colin

Thanks for all of the info and pleased to hear that you live relatively close by.   I haven't actually worked on the two models that you referred to but the close relatives are the BM2000 and the BM1400 and I have managed to save both of those.  I can easily check out both of your units and give you a rough idea of what might be involved.

I don't know how often you visit the Gold Coast but we would be happy to have you visit sometime.  Bring your two B&Os and we can have a look at them.

If you are interested in pursuing this matter, the best plan is to send me a PM so that we can establish email contact.  You can then let me know when you will be in our area and I can give you all of the directions and contact details that you will need.

Look forward to hearing from you

Regards Geoff
