I am in a bit of a dilemma. It just seems to harder and harder to integrate older B&O products every time something new comes out. And basic connections seem to be removed every time.

In any case I just got the latest BV11 which by the way does not come with the quick access ,HDMI, headphone jack and USB input panel anymore. I am trying to integrate the following items :

  • BeoSound 2300 (no Master Link)
  • BeoEssence
  • Beogram RX2
  • Beo Master 5500 with MC Panel
  • BeoLab 8000's for front speakers connected wires to BV11,
  • BeoLab 6000's for den /dining connected via BeoLab Receiver 1
  • BeoLab 17's wireless to BV11

The main issue is how to integrate the Beosound 2300 and Beogram RX2 elegantly since the BV 11 with built in wireless transmitter offers no coaxial input like the one available in the the standalone BeoLab Transmitter1 or BV10's. Also since I need an RIAA, I have to keep the BeoMaster 5500 or buy a third party RIAA.

I tried using a analog to digital converter to take advantage of the SPDIF input but the sound quality is not great and it introduces multiple volume gates.

I would also like to integrate the Beo Essence, but it does have the wireless speaker transmission capability.

Another thought was to separate the older equipment completely out,so I end up with two systems. I have an opportunity to purchase a complete Beo Master 5500 components system(CD,tape recorder, turntable and receiver) and would consider selling my Beo Sound 2300 and Beogram RX2 et al.

Anyway, just thought maybe someone may have experimented and have insights to share. Sorry for being so long winded in my post.

Thanks

Say what? No more quick access? I am shocked. My BV 11 from December 2013 will be replaced with a new one in two week's time and they told me the only change was the speaker grill cloth fixation, which is with magnets now.

I need to have a word with my dealer.

Btw...integration....I know what you are talking about. I wanted to integrate my BV11 with my BS9000, BL8000 and BL2. You can, but you can only have either the TV or the BS9000 running at one time, but not both together at the same time. If you are more than one person in the household and you have an open plan apartment, it makes sense to have the BS9000 on with the speakers running while the other person my want to watch something on the BV11 with the (wireless) earphones.
Nope, not possible. You cannot even have the BS9000 run, switch on the BV11 and program some future recordings or read teletext or ..... When you switch on the BV11, the BS9000 will switch off and v.v. The NL/ML converter won't help.

So, I ended up buying a BL14 system. Great, now I have 2 subwoofers and 4 speakers standing basically next to each other.

Isn't the quick access panel like a hideway panel that you have to flick open to use?  I thought it sat flush with the back of the TV until you open it by flicking it open

Yes, that is correct. It sits at the top of the TV, you press the compartment door and it will open at a 45 degree angle. Very convenient.

But isn't the OP saying that panel just isn't there anymore on the newest version of the BV11?  If that's the case, lack of integration of older equipment is dead or at the very least not as convenient.  Bad news if true.

Dave.

That's incredible, I use the USB easy access every day !

B & O had to justify the price drop ?

I am very surprised that B&O have deleted the easy access panel. Having said that, I always thought that the panel would be better positioned near the bottom of the TV  (bottom on BC1, bottom left side on BV5).

I just noticed that the Beocenter 2 has quite a bit of inputs including Masterlink and a coaxial digital out which I could connect to my BV11 SP/DIF digital in.

My assumption is that I could hook in my Beogram into the Beocenter 2 auxiliary coaxial input using my Beomaster or third party RIAA. Any thoughts on if this would work?

I was thinking I could sell my Beosound 2300 and purchase a Beocenter 2 that is for sale online. Is $1500 too much to spend on a Beocenter 2?

Thanks

Using the dig-out of the BC2 would give you the sound from the disc, you are playing - nothing else!

Thanks! Good to know. I assuming I need the NL/ML converter then for it to work as I want?

B&O spend a lot of time/manpower to create that converter.

If you want to do things 'right', there is no way around it.

And remember - the converter gets updates all the time.

Means 'fixing bugs', and also adding new functions.

The converter is less than you were prepared to spend on the bc2 and can be seen as audio or video master.

And allows inputs and speaker connections.

All in all a nice piece.

Agreed. I still need to purchase the BC2 regardless as I need ML which my Beosound 2300 does not have. Just purchased the BC2 and going to get the NL/ML Converter.

Thanks
