Hello All

I have just collected a not so lovely set of Beolab Penta 3 that need some attention.

The main things are:

  • Feet look a little tired
  • refoam needed in thet next 12 months
  • tops coming off
  • some dents

is there any guides on the repairs?

I can take the electrics out and give to my father to repair :)

Has anyone ever covered the grills in white cloth?

would the speaker be visible through the cloth?

Cheers all

great speakers and I'm sure you will enjoy the sound.

the tops are held on by double sided sticky tape, be careful please as the edge of the tops are rather sharp.

we tend to forget there is more to design than designing.

...and if you bend them, you'll never get them straightened again.

I believe there was a thread in the archived forum about white cloth Pentas (good luck searching). Looked pretty good as far as I remember.

Hi there

This thread was brilliant thank you.

I will start with the following.

1) New fret cloth

2) Amp strip down and check dry solder joints

3) Cross over strip down check components

4) New Feet

5) Find someone to make new metal covers / fix existing.

Any advise would be great

Hello All

I have received my new fret from the USA today so I am ready to send them off to be recovered in Black.

Does anyone have any experience of revamping the feet / bases?

Mine looks like they have come apart at some point and it looks like foil has been torn?

I was thinking about taking them apart and having them sprayed but i am not sure yet.

Any thoughts?

To remove the topanel use a heatgun or hairblower. Have patient it will come quite easy without bending.
