1. Have my PC and WLAN Box in the "working room"; connected AirPort Express to the WLAN Box, Installed Airport Installer (version 5.6.1.2)

2. went throgh the installation process, installed iTunes, There I could finde the AirPort Express Box,

3. Though I moved the box to my living room (no more direct network connection to WLAN box), Box showed still a green lamp

4. linked the AirPort Express Box with the B&O (Beosound 3000) via AUX

5. Can choose on iTunes between sound on PC or Airport Express (choosed both)

6. Installed remote App on the IPad and everything works fine

Now I wonder, if i can connect directly to the amplifier without the PC?

1. installed AirPort App on the IPad

2. In the app it shows a green internet connection, but searching for AirPort Express it does not find the box

Has anybody a clue what could be the reason for this?

Hi Horst,

Which version is your Airport Express? The old wifi 802.11g version will not work with the iOS airport utility. Only the 802.11n versions do.

Kind regards,

Lawrence

Hi Horst,

Sorry, I thought you said that the problem was that the iOS airport utility on the iPad could not find the airport express.

When you first set up the airport express you can tell it how you want it to connect to the network: wirelessly, via Ethernet socket, etc. What you may have done is connected your PC's wifi directly to the airport express. Check that you have configured the airport express to join your wireless network AND check that your PC is connected to you wifi network, not to the airport express. Then you should be able to use your setup in the following ways:

1. PC playing music from iTunes via AirPlay to your airport express in another room; optionally, you can use the iPad Remote app to control iTunes on your PC.

2. The iPad playing music stored in itself via AirPlay to your airport express in another room. PC can be off.

Does that help?

went into the Airport software again:

Airport - > wireless

there I found following options: (my translation from German)

- create new wireless network

- connest to wireless network (that´s what I chose)

- extend a wireless network

- out or finish

Hi Horst,

The option you selected seems correct.

May I suggest the following:

1. Leave the PC off. Turn your iPad off, let it fully shut down (spinning circle disappears), then turn it on again. (Yes, it can really help.)

2. Confirm that you have music actually stored on your iPad, or on iCloud if you use it.

3. On the iPad open the MUSIC app and start playing an audio track. You should hear the sound through the iPad's own speakers.

4. Now swipe upwards from the bottom of the iPad screen. This should display a grey pane with various controls like wifi, Bluetooth, etc.

5. On this pane you should also see in the bottom row, in the middle, the AIRPLAY control. If you touch that you should see two options: iPad and Airport Express (or whatever name you have given it). You can only select one. Tap Airport Express (or given name) to select it.

Tell me how far you get in the sequence above.

N.B. On occasion I have lost AirPlay on my iPad Air, and resolved the issue by restarting it, hence step 1 above.

Good luck,

Lawrence

Hallo Lawrence, yes i followed 1 - 4 before already. tried it again. The interesting is in the grey field i see in the middle 5 circles. Underneath i guess i should find the choices you described. but there is nothing. no drop down field to choose. But I hear sound on the ipad.

I use "extend" to join all my airports into a single network so that it acts like a campus ie you can roam and the devices hop from one airport to the next

Does your Airport Express show a solid green light? Is the issue just from the ipad or also from iphone or directly from Itunes?

Is the airport supposed to be connected wirelessly to the WLAN ?

Is that because you want the PC's iTunes to broadcast to the Beosound ?
