Hello B&O people !

I still enjoy my Beomaster 4500 , and I also have a beolink 5000, which was not used for many years, both were purchased in the USA in 1992.

I have fixed the 5000 and re-programmed it as US version (for some reason it had defaulted to EU version after over 10 years without power) and it works but only one way. Beomaster software version shows 22 4500 during self test , I assumes it is 2 way version, but cannot get it to work?

Hi,

what is the US version of the beolink 5000 and how did you do this?

The version 2.2 of the BeoMaster 4500 is 2-way capable, but therefor the beolink500 has to be left in AUDIO 2-way mode which is normally the default.

What did you fix at your Beolink 5000 (display?) and how?

The Beolink 5000 can be setup to be 1 or 2-way mode.. Perhaps the US version(don't know what this is) defaults to 1-way mode..

Try pushing "Shift+Std.by" on the remote and then "Shift+Menu", then the BL5000 goes into setup-mode, where you can change the 1/2-way mode for Audio and Video system

It is actually a Beolink 7000 type 1542,  not a 5000

I am not sure how to get it setup to one way or two way ?

Ok, try to go into panel->setup->system->components and remove everything that is configured there, then make sure the remote is pointing at the powered on 4500, and add "radio" as the first thing..

It should "wait" some seconds and then let you pick other sources, if it show "no contact" or waiting , you might have the capasitor problem which is very common for the BL7000 with missing 2-way.

Take a look here, Leslie made a few nice pictures of him replacing the caps. I have done it on 3 BL7000 now, it is quite delicate work, and you need to take your time and have the right solder iron to solder the SMD capasitors. But it can be done with a normal solder iron with small tip.

There is also a thread here that shows some more info on how to dissasemble the remote..
