Unfortunately my Beosound 9000 won't play CDs, it's a MK3 version. The display just lights up "pause."

Is there anyone out there who can offer advice on the best way forward to get this fixed. I am located in Ringwood in Hampshire, UK.

Hoping someone can help 😢

Have you tried unplugging it from the mains, leaving it for a while and then plugging it in again?  Sometimes a reboot sorts out these strange B&O issues.

Is it Masterlinked to anything or stand alone?

Dave.

Hi Dave,Thanks for replying. Yes I've unplugged it on several occasions and unfortunately it just doesn't work! I understand that it may require a new CD mechanism and I was hoping somebody might be able to offer advice on this. At the moment is it it is a standalone system. It is only connected to some beolab 8000s.

Any suggestions welcome!

Stephen

Hi Stephen,

just a guess but try to remove the keyboard under the metal lid and look if there's some dust or dirt at the contacts of the system and the keyboard. Put it in again and try it again. Just unplug the device when removing gthe keyboard and replug it afterwards.

Hope that helps

Sounds like you need a new CD mechanism.

My BS9000 did the same, stopped, CDs didn't position correctly, the whole thing dropped down from CD1 to CD6 and so on... Strange stuff happend...

Got the mechanism replaced ( 330 Euro in Germany ) it worked flawless, then I sold the BS9000...

CD mechanism is always a problem regardless if you use it or not, thats what my B&O tech guy told me...

Rgds

It is probably a security mechanism that has stopped it, because the sensor is covered by dust and  until you dust it off it will not play. Take a cloth and run it from one end to the other under the glaslid on the long side and below the CDs

Thanks for the replies. I'm now having a new cd mechanism fitted at a cost of £240, which I'm sure will keep the CDs spinning as they should.😊

I was hoping to find someone on the forum that may be able to do the job, but I've booked it now, so too late if there is!

Regards, Stephen

That's only for the fingerprotection when the sledge moves. It doesn't stop the CD from spinning.

Mine is a MK111 and does this occasionally, I have also noticed if I press the stop button on the Beo4 remote PAUSE displays on the CD player so I thought it was a problem with a program on the remote as this did not used to happen, if I press CD on the remote a few times it gets past the problem and plays fine. sticking with it for the moment but very annoying.
