With the new experience of such a find last friday going for something else but having a need for improving my main PC sound a '70s Beomaster would do the trick. Just tape in would do and I was happy to notice that a 3000 of this type actually gives RCA plugs for input making the connection to the sound out on the PC simple and easy.
Why a '70s Beomaster? The flat design of them for the most part and the price.
Typically older B&O is needing something and I had my fair share of experience.
This one works 90%! A plastic bit is broken by the tuner wheel and plastic cover for FM presets is missing which is typical on these kind of Beomaster models. Otherwise lights, buttons and all works great and hardly any crackle with the knobs.
I am currently testing Beovox 2702 but they are not strong enough on higher volume.
What Beovox would be ideal? Other than 2600 which was recommended back then?
I would use 3800s but these were mainly available in the UK.
To be fair, S60/S75s or S45s would be a very good choice and I have used all of these speakers with a BM3000.

Or a good pair of M70s, capable of outstanding results. At the moment my Beocenter 3500 (same amp) drive my MC120-2 to great effect too, plenty of energy there!

On to the second pair of test speakers Beovox S45-2 bought by a family member new back in 1979. Always amazing bottom end. Actually inspired me to buy X35 once. What a mistake to make and never used them again with the Beosystem 2000. My parents had the S45-2 by then.
What a difference! Now on to locate the second speaker cable.
I've noticed the test button being a bit sensitive on muting the speaker out puts. I had to move do a slight wiggle when plugin the speaker cables.
Thank you Peter.
