the volume display on my bm7000 is acting up a bit lately .
i can see bars appearing and disappearing whilst adjusting the volume ( the rest of the display led's seem to be ok ) .
Can it be the mm5450 responsable for this ?? or are there other causes??
i have replaced the processor a couple of years ago ...................
any info welcome
nitro2
B&O , ......and some more
Do you mean the display on the Beomaster,or the Master Control Panel?
Nick
Or maybe on a Beolink 7000 ?
Martin
I think he means missing segments, as the 5450 is a serial in / led out which the 7000 uses to drive the front panel displays... Do the segments only disappear when volume changed? Maybe check the back up battery and general operation of the processor? I think the 5450's are pretty hardy chips!
Try storing a new volume level after checked the lithium battery and see if anything changes?
Olly
Hi martin ,
it is maybe better described " blinking segments " on the 2 7-segment led displays.
you only see those when changing volume , so a volume of 30 will be visible with various odd segments visible or with segments missing ( for example as 89 ) .
it has nothing to do witn BL.
Hi step1 ,
i have just answered dillen , please see there what is going on .
i don't understand what the lithium has to do with this serial communication or the driver to the led's .
( altough changing the lithium might also be one of the things to be done in close future ).
i will see if i can make a liitle movie of the problem.......................
any suggestions are welcome .
Hi forum ,
Please assist me in finding the cause of the problem .....................
Now the problem gets bigger ( but maybe it reveals its cause ) .
Not only the 7 segment led dislay ( front panel bm7000 ) is acting up , "loudn" and "radio " joined the problem ( blinking randomly ).
But another one is acting up too , the mute relay is also clicking in sequence with the display...................
any info highly appreciated.
oh yes , backup battery has been replaced
First thing would be to replace capacitors in the power supply regulator circuits and at the processor and front panel boards. The small ones between the cooling fin and the mains transformer are important.
martin ,
thank you , i will ghet the tools out ( again ).
While you're at it, also check the solderings on the front panel PCB and the connectors leading to it. I've seen a couple that did random things due to problems there.

where to find the test point 4TP1 ??
i cannot find it marked in the silkscreen on the processor pcb .
Replaced all i could see as suspicious ( not all components available ).
Found 4TP1 finally behind the rf shield on pin 32 of after the r58 r 48 , went to testmode and on query 5 i got 37 as an response.
Can you please tell me what the three does indicate ( first digit in my manual is 1 and 0 , second digit 7 should indicate all ok ) .
Powered on the unit , all display steady and as it should .
No clicking mute relay , response to bl1000 okay.
Hooked it up to the speakers and cd player , NOTHING no sound from the speakers ( total silence ).
Every source is silence , looks like a missing link between pre-amp and end-stage.
verified the mute relay again , it measures out okay , and responds to the insertion of a headphone.
ofcourse headphone is silence too.
i can hear the famous power-on click in the speakers and headphone .
So i started measuring voltage levels , all seem to be okay.
I did not touch anything except for the wires to the processor board , and the display board.
I replaced the processor ( with a new one ) , same result.
i am a little confused here ...................
Check if you inadvertently pulled a plug somewhere.Maybe the amplifier input or something on the processor module.
Martin ,
an little addition to the list ;-)
- 2 way communication gone too................................any help there welcome.
2 processors give the same results.
bl7000 and bl5000 ( 2 of those ) say no connection , i assume it must be processor or front panel related................not happy.
any idea on the result " 37 " in diagnosis number 5 ?
--> But the good point is that i got the unit sound-wise back alive , cd playing on the background ALL THANKS for your INPUT !!
Not quite sure what caused the silence , but i resoldered most of the points and there is was ..................sweet music ( after 2 days of a silent house ).
Did you reset the NVRAM settings ?
Yes..........
yes , ..............
I did another nv reset .
option set to 1 .
verified all soldered points i did over the last days.
verified all little connectors and cables i pulled and re-seated in order to replace caps , and the processor .
re positioned the rf-shields
re-soldered display pcb , and part of processor-pcb.
finally found the problem ( none of the above ).
one of the 4PB16 cables was only connected by its insulation , repaired the cable-connector-connection , PROBLEM solved.
This is the cable assy which connects the processor pcb to the display pcb for all IR-communication !
In my sevice manual ( BM6500 ) it was displayed wrong as 4 cables symetrical , whilst the BM7000 connector is 5 pin a-symetrically connected .
maybe the real 7000 service manual shows the good pin-out.
It is always fun working on old equipment , WITH THE HELP OF SEVERAL FORUM MEMBERS !!
The old BM7000 can go on again.

Old thread but wondering if you could help me find 4TP1 on my BeoMaster 7000? I simply cannot find it. Reading your comment it is behind the tin shield on the board with the micro computer and software?
If anyone can help me I would appreciate it.My BeoMaster 7000 will not play radio well. It starts up on FM 87. something on a radio station out of tune, searching will not tune in on a channel. It has been suggested to me that I need to run test 7 and adjust the frequency off set but I as I can't find 4TP1 I cannot enter the test mode...
