Just to make a short resume of the works made:
Comes to it, the making of the M70 signs for the frets, but I have a "Pin" maker just around the corner, will go there with a P45 badge and the pic from Jacques and see what they can do.
Costs:
Shipping for speakers, stands and caps was to McAllen TX, the tweeters Rich gave me for free shipped to McAllen, I picked up there, so count a 2200 Km trip to it, 22 hours, Motorways and gasoline USD 400.00. As had a job to do in Reynosa I dont count that. The USD 200.00 for shipping the phase links could have been brought down to about USD 50.00 but I wanted them fast and direct to Mexico. So the real cost would be around USD 500.00. this only possible because of Rich gave me tweeters and phase links for free. If you find a pair with stands in very good condition for the same or less, buy them, its worth it. Amazing good sound.
A refurbishment like this is time consuming, most of time is used to think about how to, there are electronic, wood and metal works to be done, and you need tools for all of it. My main goal when doing this is to stay as close to original as possible, if not inside at least on the outside. Sitting here 2 meters from the nearest speaker it looks nice (except for the FSs burgundy fabric) but I know the stands has damages and I coludnt keep the original aluminium look and that stinks me every time I look at them.
When time comes they will get black fabric, and I am still thinking of how to get the stands looking better when you go near to them. Will I do it again, no, I dont need to I have a good sounding pair.
Collecting Vintage B&O is not a hobby, its a lifestyle.
Just found this thread and it was an excellent read but the pictures are gone!! Do you know why?
Pics back and the M 70s has now been playing for more than 4 years, no problems
We moved house last year, and most of the stereos got shuffled. The M70s are now in the family room serving as the front left and front right of the home theater. The only other B&O in the system is one of my Beogram RX2 turntables. I bought a new Soundsmith SMMC3 for it last year and just added a Schiit preamp this week. All connected to a mid priced Yamaha home theater receiver with all the modern digital bells and whistles. Currently listening to a Clash LP on this system. My M70s are happy in this much bigger room. The 4000 system is still in the dining room but now with the S45-2s.
I am very happy to hear that your M70s are still playing, no problems. Hard to believe that was 4 years ago. I have changed companies twice since then!

Thanks to you we got the M 70s restored, I am still in the same house since 11 years, nearly retired now only take some odd jobs with high gains. at some point i realized that i had 10 BGs standing around and sold off 3 of them, also sold my P45s and a BM 1900. I had an Onkyo playing for about 8 years but then it stopped working, sound just went away. I tried 5 and 7 speaker systems with that one, but got tired of all the cables, and I like the 2 speaker stereo sound more, never got used to hearing instruments playing behind my back . Now I run BG 5000 Pizza box MMC2 from Axel, BC 1200 RtoR and my Samsung screen through my BL/BM 5000, If you ever get back in saddle get a BL/BM 5000. In our dining room my BS 3000 and BL 8000 speakers is a daily joy for my FS, now playing for 19 years. The only "modern" digital sound we use is a Google audio dongle for Spotify through our phones. Good to hear from you
