Hello guys. I have a question. A friend of mine has a BC2 connected to a BV5 in the main room and two beolink passive for outside speakers and bedroom speakers.

i connected an airport express to the aux in on BC2´s socket unit and from the main room I can select A.AUX. But trying to do so from the link-rooms doesnt make anything.

I have tried adding Phono and tried A.tape also but none of them seems to work, not N.Radio either that someone suggested. Even tried an older Beolink 1000 (shift+radio) did not work either :).

Is the Beolink passive´s firmware just too old? If I start the main room on A.AUX I can then power up the linked rooms so it works but not as good as it could.

Very likely - BeoLink Passive (or Active) need SW 1.5 (current version is 1.6) to support "A.AUX"

That is a bit strange, but I have heard it before unfortunately. They are just four years old and are installed behind a wall. Is it possible to upgrade them yourself?

SW 1.5 has been released end of the year 2008 -  few month after your purchase ...

Depends on your skills & tools - you'll have to replace the SW-EPROM .

Can I donload the firmware somewhere and flash the eeprom myself? Seems unneccessary to buy a new chip if I can just read and reprogram :)

Hello

I have the same Problem with the BC2 and Ml/MCL Converter. BC2 has SW 1.3 and ML/MCL Converter has SW 1.4 .

My Question has anbody done the SW Update (performed by a dealer) and solved the described problem ?

Thanks Reinhard

Note : I got an answer from BEOCARE after sending an Incident ticket about the problem. Update the SW of the ML/MCL Converter should fix the problem. Not done yet but I will inform you if I have done the upgrade (done by my dealer)

Cheers
Reinhard

Hello,

now I have upgraded my firmware to 1.64 it works.

I have to use LINK SHIFT RADIO to select the A.AUX input of my BC2 from any LINK-Room

The upgrade cost me 120€

Hope this helps

Reinhard

I have done the upgrade to SW 1.6 on the ML/MCL by my dealer.

Aux can now be played in every linkroom, including Nradio and Nmusic.

This is the solution and really works good.
