Hi,as I didn't find enough helpful information on this forum nor on the B&O website, I bought a Beosound Essence remote control to experiment with it.The remote uses Bluetooth and infrared, so I tried to pair it with my Sony Xperia Z2 smartphone... and it works as an input device. I started the Sony Walkman application on the device and with the Essense remote controller I can skip tracks, start/stop the music and control the music volume, too!
When I'm on the home screen of the Sony phone the Essence controller just controls the system volume and changes the modes from loud/vibrate/silent as you turn the volme completely down.I'm gonna try it with a few more devices (computer, tablet, Blackberry) and see how they react and what you can control but it opens another useful area to use the Essence remote controller! :)Here's a screenshot of my phone where the Essence controller sits friendly between all other paired Bluetooth devices. ;)
Nice that someone did the test.
However - what interests most people on Beoworld is how the ir-functions work.
Controlling a smartphone with the Essence wheel does not exactly appeal to me.
To try and see if it would work with the A2 (which is BT) might be highly interesting.
Owners of that device would be thrilled to hear that it could be used - I guess.

But how exactly to pair two devices where none has any kind of display? How do you confirm pairing then? Anyway - would be very cool if it can somehow.
@beoandy
'once more' - I did not notice the first time around.
So thanks!
@AnalogPlanel
I don't know either - was just a thought.
But that way it would be of more use than controlling a smartphone - imo.
@ MM: sorry, i forgot this:
