Hi
Just cant see where is problem. BG is making ratling noise at begining of arm return aslever X is ratling against tables center axis. Why?? Cant see any adjustments, everthing is clean and nice, belt are new...Cant (?) be on electronics board as I tried two. Neither I did noit see any difference on place adjustment of board, now as should be.
Any ideas? Anyone?
blah-blah and photographs as needed
Depending who you ask, you will be provided with two suggestions:
- A complete rebuild of the circuit board using Panasonic low-esr audiophile gradeelectrolytics, MKS-2 foil caps, Piher trimmers and metal-oxide resistors.(This would be the most popular suggestion).
or
- Fit the spring at the right end of the tonearm lifting lever (the white bar) back to its hook. That's at the extreme rear right corner of the Beogram.(This would be the most boring suggestion).
You choose.(Tip: Only one of the above will repair the fault).
Martin
My guess - the spring!
Peter
Why bother Orava, shortly on this thread a "member" (seller) will offer you 5 Beograms spray painted beyond recognition.
But I agree with Peter, the spring is a good solution.
Collecting Vintage B&O is not a hobby, its a lifestyle.
Welcome back Martin - you have been missed.
Dave.
Dave Farr: Welcome back Martin - you have been missed. Dave.
3 valuable members, that has been posting sparely in the near past, in one thread, there is hope for the future.
Amen to that Dave!
fantastic to see you back Martin, your help and experience is invaluable!
Ben
Well, spring was not loose
And the other solution... I wont buy that easily because I tried another board, (quicker that change all those components).
It has something to do with solenoid movement, if I move board out of specifications by removing outmost screw from corner of board, it works. But there is not adjustment for it? And no mechanical damage anywhere...

Well, I like to have THIS one working, that why
Could you post a video of the behaviour? I've recently spent a lot of time tinkering with my beogram 5005 (same internals) and think I know it inside out now :-)
Lee
Um, it happens under platter, I dont have endoscope. But it seems like X do not move enough to properly cath teeths of camwheel withc is moving arm (one witjh string) When board moved to direction away from transformef it works.

I couldn't agree more.
Martin is the very embodiment of why I subscribe to this site; Peter has been extraordinarily generous to me personally and Dave has been a source of much wisdom - as well as making me very keen on an Oak Beogram 3000 from Frede!

Søren was just joking... But if that certain member ever figures out... then...oh, my - say no more " />

I dont think he will Steffen, On various occasions he mentioned that he has problems with English.

Woh, after a good night sleep I found a solution: Take the platter off
So, here they are:
This one adjusted as manual says (and I understand it)
This one with board about 1,5mm missplaced
Yes, that one was correctly fitted.
ps. Did you notice my pm regarding belts?
Søren Mexico: Steffen:Søren was just joking... But if that certain member ever figures out... then...oh, my - say no more " /> I dont think he will Steffen, On various occasions he mentioned that he has problems with English.
Think of it... Copper edition could be nice
The second video seems perfect to me... what do you mean by the board misplaced 15mm?
Yes, it is perfect. Missplaced means sideways so much that the outer screwhole on transformer side corner does not line with stud on bottomplate. I can live with that but just wondering why....
It could be the solenoid... they can deform after a while and not work correctly. Have a look at Condor Audio, just google Beogram 4500 restoration its a PDF file.

I think that is uncalled for Soren, very personal attack on a good friend of mine. Why is Beoworld turning into a tit for tat b**tching match?
Surely we can all get along... These forums are an amazing resource, full of very intelligent people all sharing advice and stories on our favourite B&O hobby. Can a line be drawn under all the personality clashes and lets all try to get along.
Happy New Year,
Frankly Im not surprised by Sorens post I could of posted the same if Soren didnt beat me to it.Apparently your good dealer friends neverending bragging comes across as immensely annoying to some members, including me.Have you only got one ... How many do you need... I have a shed full, buy one off of me rather than repair your own!To him posting a photo of how many hes got of any given piece of beo gear is more vital than helping others to anything but buying some of his stash, or so it seems. He suggests we can just ignore him but thats tough when he seems to be everywhere. If we are to comment on this subject, how to avoid getting personal?
But you put it well Lee. We all want what you suggest so now we only need to appeal to your good friend and convince him to work a bit on his attitude and appearance.
Sorry OP I have no idea whats wrong in your beo but I remain impressed by the amount of unselfish willingness and help you can get from this place.
Happy New Year

Sorry Lee, went a little overboard there.
Happy new year to you too
Bit late to this thread but from me also: welcome back Martin!
This place is definitely not the same with or without you.

If he is who I think he is, he has published very nice picturestories about various refurb projects to us to learn. Personally I dont see anything wrong if one get satisfaction by refurbing and selling things, I do it myself sometimes. I do feel satifited when I do get broken device back to life and looking good, and then sell it to someone others joy making one more happy B&O owner.
And very happy year to all

He has posted many threads on restoration and has helped a lot of people. He has a large collection and often sells people the items that they wouldn't fine elsewhere. I don't see a problem with trying to sell items, he is a paid up member after all, and he often has parts that people need...
I find the whole childish bickering and sly backhanded comments very distasteful. Its tantamount to school yard bullying. Can we please draw a line under all of this and let bygones be bygones. It's the start of a new year, lets all try and get along. If your not happy with someone's post then just ignore it...

Well said Lee. I have also recently bought a magnificent system from this member which I could not have obtained in the condition it's in, nor for the price I paid anywhere else so am grateful to him and for some of his restoration threads. I haven't always agreed with him on this forum but some of the posts are starting to get out of hand to such a degree that I have contacted the owner of the Forum to discuss the problem with him.
In addition, I understand, the member you are referring to has had enough of the grief he has received and has given up on Beoworld despite me trying to convince him to rise above it. Another nail in the coffin for vintage collectors/restorers. Fortunately Martin has returned but unless this unnecessary language and feelings abound, others will follow out of the door and Beoworld will be a lesser place for it.

I fully agree with all of you ! I'm a personal friend of this member, I met him here in the forum and came many time to see him personally. We discussed hours about B&O and many other things. Considering him as a reseller is unfair and far far away from what he is.
Best regards to all of you and PEACE !
