Hi Guys,
Looking at buying 2013 model BL5's which are pre-owned (second hand market). The pair was originally bought by the original owner as an in-store demo. What % of new-price is reasonable to pay for the second hand speakers, assuming they are in good condition?
Thanx,
davelarue
"You think we can slap some oak on this thing?"
Ah. Any indication that they will launch a new flagship speaker?
Yeah. When do we know the answer? I searched on CES 2015...and they are announcing something tomorrow am i right?

OP, used Beolab 5's are around 10.000 euros or so. The price isn't too much different if slightly older/newer.
Too long to list....

Wow!
Amazing. I'd buy them in a heartbeat!
Or is payment via Western Union? ROFL.
Seriously if they're indeed that price someone should pick them up ASAP. Adelaide is a bit far from Finland. :)
The problem is not the cost ... but you find them near home. They weigh a lot and is not clever send. They are delicate.
On ebay they sell at 7500/8000 euro.
In stores at 9000 euro.
Example I have 2 pairs for sale. A couple with small scratches on the discs to 6500 euro. A perfect pair to 7500 euro. But I do not ship.

Thanks Olvisab. You evidently know more than I do. It's a local advert in an Adelaide paper.
EDIT
And for all you and I know, the seller may be completely genuine or may have typed an error into his price. I just linked to it for comment or interest for our Australian members, not for insults.

In fairness his post may have come across as a little aggressive when it probably wasn't quite meant that way. We do hate scammers on here with a passion though..
$2,400 AUD is around £1,280
$24,000 AUD (if he missed a zero) is £12,800
Neither price would make sense, so I'm at a loss. My gut feeling is scam, but as you say it's always worth contacting the seller. Miracles do happen, but not generally when it comes to BeoLab 5's, sadly...
Anyway - let's dust our shoulders off, straighten our ties, and move on.
From my experience BeoLab 5's have a "ceiling price" of £9,000 and a very bottom price of £4,500 for some old and rough ones. They rarely (used) go higher or lower than these prices, no matter what the age or condition.

Well, I placed the link for comment, and comments are what I got!
Yes it probably is a scam, just like all the scams that get reported in our 'eBay the right way' forum.
As Lee says, the price does not make sense even if a zero has been missed off. You would think that a scammer would try to scam a realistic price when committing his crime wouldn't you! And as it's just an Adelaide local ad, not on eBay looking for a PayPal 'Buy it Now' instant payment, the whole thing looks very odd.
Better to discuss these things on Beoworld than ignore them. It has nothing to do with promoting scammers, rather it is to make others aware.
Just a follow up re the dodgy listing in Adelaide, Australia. This is the response I received yesterday:
FYI, This is definitely a scam. Just based on the pictures in the advertisement. I saw them in a similar ad last year, where the poster claimed the speakers were located in Indiana, USA. The same photos.
How long will the (complicated) electronics last in these speakers, as they slowly come of age now?
I guess a simple 'recap' won't be so simple with these?
I had recently exactly the same email exchange and story (only the seller was "moving" from Germany to the UK) for a pair of new Beolab 3s with PlayMaker for the price of 1.000 EUR.
It's a scam, forget it.
Oh, I know it's a scam. I often respond along the lines of: 'oh, great! I just happen to be in England now so I can come and pick them up and pay you cash!'
Of course i never hear from them again...
