I just bought a complete set of White Beosystem 6500 units i.e. Beomaster, beogram, beogram CD and beocord from Germany.

So far I purchased a 1000W Step up/Step down transformer and a German 5 plug surge protector that I plug to the transformer. So far in testing things seem to work but there is almost tiny barely audible hum from the transformer (Not unbearable). Also I have not tried the Beogram yet.

My question is if it is possible to have these rewired for US Voltage and plugs? Is it cost prohibitive?

What is the downside of using the transformer especially from a power consumption?

Thanks

For most units that don't have a voltage selector, it's often simply a rewire to the transformer which most competent electricians should be able to do. Sometimes just jumpers to swap around.

Usually in the service manuals for these types of unit there is a schematic of which points at the transformer to use for various voltages. Silver and gold members of Beoworld have access to these manuals.
