Hello Beoworld.
I've just got an Avant 32 VCR mkIII and I am trying to remove the CRT from it and generally trim it down a bit so I can use it as a rotating stand with speakers for my flat panel TV.
There are some things which can only be configured through the menu interface on the TV (e.g. bass, treble, loudness). So i'm trying to work out if I can get get either the menu overlay out as a component / RGB signal from somewhere on the main PCB? I was wondering if I could connect directly into the deflection header!?
Appreciate any help
Ok... I've done some poking and now I realise that the system will only power on when intact, I don't suppose it is easy to spoof the umpteen OK signals which are no dowbt required?
So my backup plan is just to get the speakers and amp working standalone.
Looking at the power amp it appears to work as follows.
The supply comes in on twinflex +40V DC (-20V +20v).
Am I right in thinking the connection to the mainboard is as follows?
Pin 1 - 7V power on, 0V mute
Pin 2 - GND
Pin 3 - Audio Signal
Pin 4 - Gnd
Then obviously the speaker is driven active bi-amp style.
If that is right then hopefully it shouldn't be too hard to make this into a speaker unit.
