In few days bang and olufsen launch Beosound moment. Therefore, Beosound 5 Encore is now sold "cheap" in sale. Probably a chance to buy a bargain. I have some questions:
1) Is it possible to manipulate Beosound 5 Encore by a mobil app without IR?
2) Is it possible to search a title? For instance you type "City" and you get a list with song titles including City. For instance Paradise City from Guns n' Roses? Or typing Mozart as composer gives Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Leopold Mozart?
3) Do you have "album interpreter" or only interpreter?
4) Can you stream from a mobil?
5) If there is a electricity cut, must the meta info from USB attached devices be scaned again?
6) According the the manual you should have an own network for Encore 5. (Similarly, Sonos always builds an own WIFI). In my room (an office) there is only network cable. Do you have problems connecting it after a Switch.
Thanks for helping me in my decision?
1) No, and it will never be possible
2) You can browse songs by title exactly like an iPod did in the time of the wheel : scroll quickly to display a list of letter, and then scroll alphabetically. You can do this for album or song title, and artist name, but not by composer name.
3) Only "Artist"
4) No (don't think about running a DLNA server on the mobil, too complicated solution). But there is an "Aux" port (analog), where you can connect a bluetooth device for instance.
5) No, normally it stays in memory when power returns.
6) You can add the Encore to any existing wifi network, but of course if the network is saturated you will have dropouts in playback. I have the Encore connected in ethernet to a switch : no problem (in fact it also worked with 2 switches one after the other)

Thanks.Let me probe you on your 3rd point. I would have hoped that the BS5E display all categories that are served by the DLNA server. For example, if the DLNA server sends playlists or albumartists, this could be somehow displayed on the BS5E? Are you sure that this is not possible and limited to the "artist" field only?
Yes, and that can be a problem with compilation albums. BS5E only displays artists, even if your DLNA server mades a lot more informations available.

That's indeed a big problems. People even with medium-sized libraries easily can have thousands of artists in their libraries. One compilation can translate into 100+ artists (60 songs with 60 different artists, 40 of these 60 songs will have a featured artist).
Is that the case for all B&O DLNA clients (new Avant, BV11, Moment, etc.)? I was thinking of buying a BS5E, but this info unfortunately kills this idea.
Also, one of the nice things about DLNA is that I can have access to my itunes playlists as long as the DLNA server can "host" them, which I understand also would not work?
Thanks for your answers.
Now, I understand why B&O is not DLNA certified... It is probably not only a marketing decision of paying the DLNA brand fee or not.
4) I prefer a PlayMaker than a bluetooth device. Bluetooth has a too strong compilation.

Any thoughts on above?

You understood it : Beosound 5 Encore is not able to play iTunes playlist (it is also not able to play Apple Lossless)
