This was great info, Geoff & Ramasjang — using the maximum distance. I played with distances such as 4 and 7 meters, but they got the audio out of sync. 0 meters had close to no noticeable delay, so I didn't think maximum distance would give the best result. I'll try it out.

Also thanks Geoff for explaining that "Other" at volume level 80 = "Line" at 2 V RMS. It explains why the volume had to be way up there for the audio to be audible using "Other" @ -10db, and why Line worked best with the BT transmitter/headphones.

The result is a handy speaker group for wireless headphones — a nice add-on solution for BV11, for watching a movie late at night in an apartment building with neighbours!

I guess I have the same issue as KMA: I would like to use a headphone to be able to sometimes watch TV at night...Knowing that I will soon receive my BV11 (mk3 which means no easy access panel) and idealy I would like to use my headphone which is a wired one (from Aedle it's a french brand making beautiful headphones if you don't know them you should take a look ;) !) can you please explain how to do this and also how can I use a "my button" on the BR 1 to switch to headphone listening and muting the TV speaker?

Beside this, I would like to know as well how to use another "my button" on the BR1 to: switch to Apple TV Hdmi, associate specific settings for the TV speaker and at the same time, mute the picture?

1: You might tweak the MyButton to do this, but it probably would be easier to choose the specific Speaker Group manually for it.

If you make a 'Speaker Group' with just the PL-out used for the headphone/headphone-amp, you just choose that, if you want to listen through your headphones.

There is no 'muting of the tv speakers' - they simply don't turn on/are not used, when you choose the created 'Headphone-Speaker Group'.

2: You should turn on the BV11 with the settings, that you have described above, and then push one of the MyButtons.

This makes a snapshot of the actual configuration. You should be able to recall that again by pushing the choosen MyButton any time (as long as you don't overwrite it with something else). That is how 'MyButtons' work.

Sorry - the 'PL-out' is where you connect your wired BeoLab speakers = the RJ45/PL connections on your tv.

 

Ad described in this thread, you can connect a 'RJ45/PL cable to Phono/RCA or mimijack adapter cable' there. This is then your connection for the headphone/headphoneamp.

Before you start using it, you must configure that output (in the settings) as 'Line' - assuming that your Bluetooth adapter has its own volumen control. And you should  make a Speaker Group consisting of only this output  to make it easier to handle.

How to do this - please consult the userguide of the BV11 and re-read this thread.

I heard from B&O Support in Denmark today, that they've tested a bluetooth transmitter called Telme2 TosblueX2. It should allow for a pair of H8's working wirelessly with a Beovision 11 at the same time.

Perfect for when you don't want to wake the baby and apparently excellent sound quality.

Will test the setup with B&O's technician when my Beovision 11 arrives next week - and of course report back.

 

NB: B&O support recommends using a dedicated power supply for the bluetooth transmitter, or the signal/power will be lost when the TV goes into stand-by.

Thanks for this.  We tried the TosblueX2 and rejected it due to poor sound quality (in our opinion).  According to Telme's website at www.telme2.com it only supports bluetooth 2.1+EDR, which could be the reason for the poor sound that we heard.

We finally found another Bluetooth 4.0 transmitter which gives far clearer sound and which also supports 2 sets of H8 headphones.  When tested in our workshop, this reliably gave a range of 11 metres.

I must add a caveat that bluetooth range can vary greatly in different situations, depending on building construction and the number of Wifi networks in use locally (as bluetooth and wifi share the same 2.4GHz radio band).  However, we have found this new Bluetooth 4.0 transmitter to be the most reliable option in most cases.

This can either be powered from a dedicated mains power supply or via the TVs USB socket (the transmitter has a battery life of around 8 hours to prevent loss of power during short power cuts).

Maybe they have updated this to a newer version now? During our testing, we found that bluetooth 2.1 devices gave poor audio quality and bluetooth 3.0 devices sounded much better but they gave a delay which caused lip-sync problems when watching TV with the headphones.  Changing to the Bluetooth 4.0 device cured the delay and gave good quality sound.

I apologise for being vague over the details of the transmitter, as this is a new device which I've just finished testing and I haven't even thought about prices or details for selling it yet! (this is why you won't see it on my website yet).  My first guess is that this would cost around £49 GBP including Beovision 11/Avant RJ45 cables, instructions and worldwide shipping.  For use with older systems that don't have RJ45 outputs, the total cost would be lower at around £45 GBP including cables and postage.

A mains power supply (for devices without a USB socket) would add around £5 GBP to the price.  I should have these arriving in the next 7 days or so, I'm happy to answer any questions and I will (of course) offer a 60 day money-back promise as always, so that you can try it out in your own home and return it for a full refund if you are not completely happy.
