Hello,

new member and first post. Recently picked up a Beogram 4002, type 5511 that needs some mechanical adjustments. So here's a silly question; when adjusting the platter, is it the metal base of the platter or the vinyls pads that should be flush with the surrounding metal plate?

The metal surface of the platter should be flush with the metal 4002 deck.  Before that however, you need to go through the service manual procedures to make sure the metal surface of the platter is the proper distance to the top of the detector arm (23mm).  After that, then work the suspension to make sure the platter and deck are flush.  It can take a long time getting the adjustments right.

Thank you :) This adjustment does take some time. Tricky with two different ways of adjusting the same parameter. I would think the turntable bearing is the technically important adjustment, and the spring mountings bit is more for aesthetics...

I would agree.
