I am trying to use my Beo4 to control my Mac. I have partial success. The PUC "Apple Remote" is installed and some buttons work. Unfortunately, there are only five functions mapped, while I would hope to have 6 or even 7.

Left/right/up/down - properly mapped on Beo4 to the respective buttons

Menu - mapped to the Beo4 keys "green" and "back"

Select/play - not mapped to any key on the Beo4

If I turn things around, the Beo4 keys "play" and "stop" are not sending any signal to my Mac.

Is there more than one PUC for Apple and how can I see in the menus what version of the PUC I am using? Could this be caused by an old PUC?

Any help appreciated!!! Thanks in advance.

I thought so too, but unfortunately this does not work. I have a software (remotebuddy) that detects if a IR signal is detected at the Mini. Unfortunately, neither "play" nor the "joystick button" yields any response. So, it appers that the PUC somehow does not transport this signal.

I believe that this used to work in older versions of OSX, but no longer does with Yosemite. It could also be related to something else though, so woudl like to hear whether anyone has this setup working.

Thanks in advance!!!

With "GO", you mean pressing the joystick? Or a separate button?

Is this working for you with Yosemite or an older OSX version?

Thanks!!!

You have the new Beo4 with the joystick? It may well behave differently to the older model with just GO in the middle. I believe the new Beo4 has different operating modes - I don't have one, but you might want to check if the answer would lie therein.

Thanks! Is there any reaction from "play" button as well or just with "go"? I don't have an old remote and it would be really a pity if that's the issue and the Beo4 with joystick would no longer be compatible...

I don't have any PUCs or Macs either, so someone else will have to fill in there. What I meant was that the new Beo4 can (I believe) be configured in different ways, and that will affect the way the diamond and joystick behave.

Historically GO and PLAY have have been the same command, I'm not sure if the new Beo4 changes that.

Thanks. Can anyone with Yosemite confirm that "play/go" is still working with the PUC? I don't think my Beo4 is the issue, but it may well be Yosemite?
