Hi,
Just got a new playmaker. My playmaker skips at least 2-3 times during a song. I didn't have this problem with my airport express that i used before.
Could it be that the playmaker requires a better wireless router?
Can you try to connect your playmaker via cable to your network?
The playmaker and all non apple airplay devices use the older 2.4GHz Wifi while he Airport Express is in the faster and more modern 5GHz range.
2.4 is often very busy/crowded with your neighbors wifi network and not able to keep up with the bandwith required to stream.
An easy test, connect your playmaker to the network port from your airport express via cable, you then will have the playmaker available in your 5GHz wifi network, see if it still skips.
for me that worked perfectly,
Ok, looks like cable is the best option.
Why don't they use 5 GHz like Apple?

Probably because there are a lot of people, the majority I'd say, who don't have that capability as they are still using one band 2.4 GHz routers. Perhaps a poor design decision to not enable both in the Playmaker, but also helps keep the price down.

I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus.

Because Apple makes everyone use the same Apple mandated 2.4 chips in their equipment. B&O has no choice in this matter. Anyone that wants to use Airplay has to use the chip specified or not at all. It's speculated that is one way Apple keeps a competitive advantage over other players. I believe new 5.0 chips are on the horizon, but only expect that in newly released equipment.... and when Apple decides everyone can have it.
Ah, you know... A little B&O here, a little there
This is unfortunately correct.
workaround for me was to use the airport express just to connect the playmaker to my network.
Stupid, but nothing 3rd party vendors can do anything about.
The A9 (2nd Generation) has support for both 2.4 GHz- and 5 GHz (a/b/g/n) -network.
I don't think, that we will see any 2nd Generation of the Playmaker - so we will have to deal with the limits of the 2.4 GHz.
Not all have problems with it - my Playmaker works well on wifi.

There is a tv - and there is a BV
I put the ethernet cable in now. Does the Playmaker automagically switch to the cable, or do i have to do something in settings?
for me it switched itself automatically to that.
cable is connected to your router correct?
Yeah. Ok, thanks.
Look at the buffer on your streaming software.
Using PM with Tuneblade requires an xx millisecond buffer to ensure smooth playback.
Airport Express and associated software may have that automatically built in??
