..... and its a while to go yet.
I wouldn't say 'it's crazy bidding', not just yet. An initial flurry of activity to set a base-line.
The interesting thing to see iwill be what it actually sells for. Yes, these are scarce and sought after so I expect it to go a lot higher yet. The question is, will is sell for more or less than what I paid for a fully refurbished (by Classic Audio) one last year. If it does sell for higher then the buyer needs his head examining. If it sells for less, then the buyer maybe has a bargain - relatively.
Unless you've seen or heard one of these (retored one), you don't know what you're missing.
Dave.
Very rare and the best Beogram. The Thorens TD124 Mk II is held up as one of the best turntables made and commands a high price. The Beogram version is rarer and attracts both Thorens and B&O collectors.
Peter
I assume that's yours Peter with the 12" arm? I almost went for the longer arm from Frede but didn't in the end. How much difference do you think it makes?
Very little and it limits the cartridge choice as it uses an SP2. Looks very cool though! The reduced tracking angle error is certainly beyond my hearing powers!
The lid is interesting - this one is one I had made but Frede sent me a new one which is sturdier - I had sent him one of my design - the first broke and i had to send another! He obviously found a better manufacturer and kindly gave me one. These are great decks though and Frede restores them beautifully - what colour is yours?
Peter:what colour is yours?
Mine is a black TT and light Oak wood.
Very pretty! Is the other turntable a Michell? How does it compare?

Hi Peter,
no, it's a Transcriptors Saturn - very similar and uses some of the same parts. I have never used it! The vestigial arm needs setting up properly, is very difficult to do and it takes days to do so I've never got around to it. I only put it there as homage to the film 'A Clockwork Orange' - though they did use a Michell TT. They look the same though.

1230 euro
Well done !

Does that indicate that you are the winner?
Dave Farr:Does that indicate that you are the winner?
No I was not bidding on it, as you know I all ready have one from Classic Audio.

That's why the emoticon confused me. I thought you'd added a second!
And me!!
We also don't know who bought this one.

That works out to be more than I paid for a fully restored one from Classic Audio including booklets, certificates, multiple Axel retipped cartridges, new lid etc, etc. Someone really wanted that one!

I was emoticon-ly confused at he amount it got.
Wow

For a while, Thorens afficionados would butcher Beogram 3000s to get at the Thorens player, and set that up with a Thorens or Ortofon plinth and another tonearm.
Now, I guess people will be looking for Beogram 3000 plints, board and tonearms ...
I see that the one sold from Copenhagen isn't even in original condition, as the motor has been replaced. I got very lucky when I found my Beogram 3000 on Den Blå Avis in Denmark, some years ago. I hope the person who sold it to me didn't see that auction. I got a very favorable price.
Turntables have become popular again. And this is one very fine turntable.
