Hi,

I would like to connect my Mac mini to my Bv7-32 using a digital audio connection rather than an analog connection.

The Mac mini is sp/dif , the TV uses Coax RCA. I do not know what kind of adapters I need.

Any help appreciated.

As far as I know the BV7 has a little unusual digital input. It can not play PCM-audio, just Dolby. If it doesnt detect a Dolby-signal it will try to take analog sound first (not the spdif-input).

If you really want to send digital audio you have to get an optical to coaxial converter but I think you also have to send analog audio. Since this is how the digital input works I don't think you will have a lot of use for it unfortunately.

It can play digital PCM-audio, unless the software of your DSM-module is upgraded to 3.x

You can see what software it has now in your service menu. Probably it's 2.5

I did not know this but do you mean that older software can play PCM but the newer models can't?

Sounds strange

Why do you think that 3.x is older than 2.5 ?

I think is is not only software related. You will need a chip also. Read HERE

"For the sound you need DSM SW version 3.01 (part no 8344439 ) . I did it on my BV7 now it works perfectly. The chip is quite cheap (40 Euros) but the BO technicien need to come and open your TV.

SW must be above 7.84 you can find it in customer service menu. MENU then OPTION (only highly don't go in) then RED arrow with BEO4 then GO"

I read it as you ment that it could play PCM if it was not upgraded to 3.x but I guess you meant that it plays PCM from 3.x and up?

Thanks,

I am glad I asked as I was about to buy a converter. My TV's software is too low.

Hopefully I am not loosing too much quality buy using an analogue connection.
