Hi everyone,

Am considering changing tv. Unfortunately current finances not allowing me to consider a new or second hand Beovision 10 or 11  so am looking at usual suspects (Samsung, Sony, LG etc). Is it still possible to connect either of the above speakers to a non B&O TV? Does anyone have experience with this and which, if any, are the better of the two? This way at least I can get B&O sound and using a linntronic get control with a Beo4.

Thanks,

Graeme

Beolab 7.1, 7.2, and 7.6 is the same speaker. They are just different length.

The stereo reproduction will be wider with the 7.6 than with the 7.1 if I am not mistaken.

The 7.1 can be bought secondhand fairly cheap as it is intended for use with the BV7-32. The 7.2 is for the BV7-40, and the 7.6 for the BV7-55.

If I was to use one with a non-B&O tv because of finances, I would go for the 7.1. Have seen them as low as 300£.

Don't forget that you will also need either the table stand or wall bracket. The BeoLab 7 has two base ports underneath the cabinet so placing the speaker directly on a shelf will greatly impair sound quality.

I think, from a normal TV, you will need something like this cable from Sounds Heavenly to go to the Beolab 7.1

Thanks everyone. I have seen the 7-1 going for reasonable prices, and thinking the sound will be as good if not better than any soundbar from Samsung etc. I take the point about the stand too, and actually think they look good on the stand anyway.

thanks again,

G.

It is an amazing speaker. I have the BL7.4, and if it wasn't for my surround setup, I would have changed to the BL7.2.

They are excellent as a link-speaker in a ML-setup.
