Hi I got a free TV but no remote.
Apparently universal remotes can't be used with B&O TV's - is this true?
I did get a Philip Universal one partially to work, but it didn't have enough buttons to move onto the next pin code!
I bought a InoBrand one Ebay, which was supposedly programmed to work with this model of TV. Only the power on and off works!!
If anyone has got one to work with a particular universal remote could you let me know...
Otherwise I might as well take it to the tip as I know the original remotes go for mega bucks!!!!
Thanks
Get a Beolink 1000 - indestructible and usually cheap. Looking at eBay, they seem to go for between £8 to £20. The MX4200 is a nice little set - cost £1200 new!!

Thanks regarding the Beolink 1000, I have found a German version on ebay which is quite cheap, however it doesn't list the MX4200 as being compatible. It lists the MX4000 however, are you sure it will definitely work?
I'm keeping my eye out for the Beo4 too, however which particular Konig remote would work with my TV?
Thanks again
Phil
I've used Logitech Harmony remotes with B&O gear, not your specific piece but with an AV7000 and BS9000. B&O uses(d) higher frequency codes than standard, and not many aftermarket remotes will work with them.
I'd go for a used Beo4 personally, unless I needed to operate other gear like a TV box or DVD player, they are slick, well built, and stylish.

I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus.

You can use the Beolink 1000 with the MX4200. Better buy a B&O remote, than some universal remotes, where you can't be sure all functions will Work.
As you know by now a BL 1000 can be found at the same Price or even cheaper than many universal remotes. Best solution will be a Beo4 - but the BL 1000 will do the job. And again - the Beo remotes can be sold when the TV dies. Or you can use it if you buy some other B&O devices.
For my video needs, since it's not a Beo setup, I use a Harmony One with the remote hub. It is a marvelous device, easy to program and customize, web enabled, and the app for the iOS devices is wonderfully laid out. It is an amazingly good universal remote.
That being said, the tactile sensation of using it pales in comparison with the Beo4. It's a much more competent universal remote, but it's plasticky and light and doesn't feel nearly as good in the hand nor look as good on the coffee table.
For a Beovision setup I'd definitely go with a B&O remote, the feel of it alone is worth it!
