I think I have tried everything. I want to get my Beo to start on e.g. volume 20, instead of 6, where I managed to set it some time ago. I get to o"options", and then nothing happens. Any ideas, at all?

Adjust the sound you like and then...

Store - Sound - Store...

with a Beolink 1000

Using a Beo4, A.SETUP, GO, then LIST till you reach S.STORE and press GO.

Using the Beolink 7000, press SOUND and the blue menu will walk you through it finishing off with STORE. (I love this remote!)

I start phono, increase to 10, store>sound>store, turn it off, restart, and it is still stuck on 6. Using a Beolink 1000. Drat!

And I tried with BLink 7000, too. Nothing happens. It still starts on vol 6.
