Thanks for the upload.  A great read. What a stellar review.

Unfortunately, I fear that once this article is posted on the S&V website, the naysayers will crawl out of the woodwork to discredit the author for not knowing what he's talking about. Such is life when it comes to B&O vs. the World.

Here's a link to the Media section, unless you wanted the direct link to the article, which at the moment doesn't exist apart from print media unless you have a digital subscription to Sound and Vision.

Well the "review" - at least regarding the speakers - is not really a review. No comment on sound performance with different audio sources. No comparison (subjective at least) against other leading products in this price range.

Looks more like an advertorial heavily based on tech facts anyone can read in a datasheet. Spending time explaining how Beolab 19 is a dodecahedron but no mention about audio performance neither in music nor home theater mode. Etc etc. Really lame.

I wonder if there is a difference between a "Review" and "Test" in the editorial world of AV magazines? I see a lot of mixed use of those two words.

In my opinion, a "review" is the kind of article that Sound & Vision did on the B&O setup. "Test", on the other hand, I see as an article where just about everything imaginable is measured and rated — for example FlatpanelsHD's test (they call it review) of the Avant, where they do testing of the PQ with professional equipment and the data can be compared to other models/makes.

Maybe that is semantics, but the Sound & Vision review was pretty good at pointing out what B&O is about — getting sound and picture very enjoyable in a holistic setup. EDIT: Oops, Sound & Vision's piece was a "Test Report" (whatever it means compared to Review or Test).

Also, there aren't many companies apart from B&O — if any — who produce all of the gear: TV, speakers, processing, at comparable level of quality. Sure they could have taken a similar Samsung setup of Samsung's consumer electronics, but that would have been comparing apples to oranges. And they could have taken a "similar" setup made of many different brands, but which? What would have been a fair comparison, as the options are almost limitless in the separates world within the $25.000 price.

What the [review] Test Report was spot on: take these products from this one manufacturer, sit back, relax and enjoy a setup worth the money — if you can afford it.

Beogram 6500 Turntable

You can also find it, for example, in the Zinio newstand app (for iPad etc) or Apple's Newstand and buy this one Sound & Vision issue to your tablet.

Whether it's a real test, a review, or a repackaged marketing thing I'm just glad B&O is getting some positive press.

And after seeing years of barely rewritten marketing hype in high end mags, written by people who get to buy review samples cheap or keep them on indefinite "loan" it's not like no one else does it.

Hahaha, semantics aside, can anyone copy/paste here one single statement about how Beolab 17/18/19 sound to the author?

No, I don't expect neccessarily detailed lab tests - but to write zero (0) words about at least subjective impression on how a loudspeaker sounds is just... ...beyond me. :)

Clearly, this text is intended to only present B&O to readers who didn't know (or didn't care) about the brand and to create nominal awareness by re-telling B&O marketing story in an "article" form. And yes, now we can call it a "test", "review" or anything else. A car test without ever turning on the engine. LOL

I am fully convinced not. :) In your review author actually did switch on some of the "reviewed" products.

But that didn't happen in a "great review" from Sound&Vision Feb issue.
