Apologies i keep clicking 'Post' instead of the camera icon next to it!

Love the engraving on the edge of the product. The 'jukebox' (thats the bit you hold in your hand) feels fantastic to hold. Nicely weighted but not too heavy - of course there's a slab of oak attached so it weighs more than say an iPad 1. But the silk finished aluminium feels great to touch and the whole thing feels great. I find the iPad mini a bit fiddly to hold when trying not to touch the screen - but this has plenty of 'furniture' to hold on to.

Going through the set up menu has been very easy indeed.

It found my NAS drive straight away, i put my tunein and deezer credentials in - now it is indexing my nas drive. Just need to wait for the wife to finish watching her TV programme on the Avant, then I can nick the speakers and let rip!Big Smile

MartinW... did you already have that wooden end table? It is a great match to the oak side of the Moment... B&O should sell matching end tables, diversify some more! LOL

Or even sell rolls of matching oak lamella that the Moment purchaser can cut to size and place under where they will have the soundheart.

Very nice Martin!

I'll add to my comment about Flere's pictures and say that your pictures are also better than any of the official B&O output.

The thing is growing on me.

Ha! When I moved it 2 years ago I opted for oak floor, oak fireplace, oak doors and oak tables. How appropriate!

I like seeing it in a normal home. It fits here very well - I even like looking at the 'soundheart' - it has a nice engraving that just reminds you of the brand you love!

The BeoMusic app seems to work nicely. All my NAS music is on there, stuff from my iPhone, TuneIn and I can fully browse Deezer, swipe to add to favourites etc.

Very nice, Martin.

I've been waiting for an unboxing like this for some time now.

Time for real life experiences with the Moment!

Keep them/the unboxings coming, guys Smile

P.S. Did you connect it directly to your Avant (via NL) and use that (and it's connected speakers) as your speakers?

And - by the way - congrats on your purchase.

Well done Martin

I love these three in situ shots

Hi MM

The connection to the Avant could not have been easier.

My Avant gets its internet connection via Wifi.

My Moment gets its internet connection via Wifi.

When going through the setup screens on the Moment, it said 'do you want to connect wireless speakers' and I said no. Next screen was 'do you want to connect wired speakers' and I said no. Then it asked if I want to share my TV's speakers and I said yes. I picked my Avant off the list of TV's showing on my wireless network and that was that - sound started playing from the Avant as soon as I pressed play! Dead easy, all via Wifi.

I'm assuming this is also possible with if you had a BV11, and even if your Avant was wired, and the Moment was not and any permutation of wired or wireless B&O devices as long as they're connected to the NL network somehow. Is this correct?

Thanks MM, even though I'm not a fan of the design, the described connectivity aspect appears to be out of this world seamless - amazing!

Yes it does - I went for the NAS option and was surprised that I didn't even need to give it any credentials - I often find it tricky to log in an iDevice or computer to my NAS (it's a GoFlex Pro) but the Moment just immediately started indexing the songs - and they work!

So that sounds like it was accessing the file system rather than the iTunes data base, and certainly not communicating to the iTunes application.

Correct ?

And easy test would be to verify that Moment plays and Moment hearts (likes) do not update the iTunes data base records.

I wonder how playlists will be shared ............ or not.

I'm not sure if Twonky Server (the software which needs to run on a MAC / PC in order for the Moment {and other B&O devices} to see the iTunes library) actually needs iTunes running -- if that is the case, then I'm pretty certain that iTunes ratings and play counts would be updated.

Good Job Martin, It looks lovely. As I was looking at the back, I didn't see any HDMI. How's it going be connected to a TV or Receiver? I always thought they could've done a better job than BeoSound 5. I mean, look how old is the Sound 5 but it still looks very attractive. This looks to me just like a Box with a Tablet or Playmaker with an iPad. We love B&O with their Smart thinking and innovation but it seems beside Speakers they going down on the rest of their finest products. I can't see myself buying any other product beside Apple but they've to wake up. They've done it in the past so I've confidence in them they can do it again. Sorry Martin, I'm not beating down but if you compare this to BeoSound 9000 in some how 20yrs ago, this's like slap in the face.

Everyone keeps telling how nice the Moment looks or not. What you can do with it or not. Nobody gives a first impression of where the device is actually meant for: what is the sound quality?

Hi Jowus - I do think you would think differently if you got hands on with this. I have grown to hate being tied to my phone/iPad for music - my phone in particular is always losing battery/busy etc.

I loved my 9000 but in a world of digital music I think they have done a great job of getting away from the 'file list' approach to music collections - and I think PatternPlay and the MoodWheel are going to be features I love.

There's no HDMI as this is purely a music system - you can use the speaker outputs as LINE OUT if you want to connect in any other way than NL.

If you do get chance to go to a dealer - have a play!

Ha yes indeed! I thought it sounded superb - to me it sounded better than the Deezer app on my Avant. I heard it in store with BeoLab 20's and thought that was the best I have ever heard any music!

Nicely said.  Exactly anyone can do most things with their iPad/ etc., however, this is a product for those who don't want to use that.  That's the thing with choice isn't it :-)

Great pics MartinW.  Well done, and glad you're happy with your purchase.

Can I ask a cheeky question, - have you personally purchased this or is it on test from the store?

Hi Martin

Great Share

Can you move to an other part of your house (far away from the Soundheart)  with the tablet an still continue to select your music ?

Haha! Nope all mine - I have wanted one since I first saw a prototype two years ago. Being in the business doesn't make me any less enthusiastic! I've bought a lot over the years but the Avant 55 and Moment (and my V1's which I think are amazing) are definitely up there in my absolute favourites. I've a 9000 boxed up in the loft but don't really have a place for it - maybe in the next house?! I'm looking forward to swapping out the Sonos in my bathroom for an Essence as - as pathetic as this may sound - its a right pain having to log in to my phone and open an app just to turn the music down when I get out of the shower or leave the house. I like these new hardware based music systems a lot.

After all there is a 'small audioengine' working in the SoundHeart - it is not just a 'china solution' with attached B&O PowerLink outputs etc.

Maybe some day we will hear more on this - I'd be surpriced if Geoff didn't do some magic there too Smile Whistle

MartinW,

" you can use the speaker outputs as LINE OUT if you want to connect in any other way than NL."

Does this mean you can connect The Moment via the speaker output (as line out) to a BV7 mk3 (ML product)?

What is a bit confusing for me is:

    - The SoundHeart Communicates with Cable or "standard" Wifi over Ethernet to the Nas

    - The SoundHeart communicate with Wifi to the Tablet but is this "standard" Wifi over Ethernet or is it a "proprietary" or "special" Wifi connection

If it is standard Wifi you should be able to control everything as far as you are in the reception area of your Home Wifi Network

If it is "dedicated" wifi you must stay in the reception area of the SouneHeart

1: you can say it so.

I'd rather say it this way:

The SoundHeart communicates with all devices (including your NAS or Pc with Twonky running) that are on your NL network.

2: the Jukebox communicates with the SoundHeart through wifi.

As far as I have understood it, the SoundHeart (during the setup) builts a (dedicated) access point to which the Jukebox (the panel-remote) logs in.

In the right lower corner of the sreen it is indicated (it is written with very small letters) whether the Jukebox is connected or not.

So, yes - you must stay in the reception area....

But I guess that this will reach far enough in most cases - we'll see what Martin's test brings.

Looks fantastic in your photo's and I don't mind the rubber border around the screen anymore as its for when you put it down on a flat surface to protect the screen. I knew B&O had to have had a reason to do that.

Martin

I have another  test  for you .. (if your home config allows it,  .... and if you agree of course)

Is it possible to select  your music (Flac files on your NAS) from the Moment and let it play on a NON B&O   DNLA player

(of course you need to have a music system or TV which is DNLA complient, in order to achieve that)

Thanks for your patience
