Hi All . I have an Overture thats' been stored for a few years , powers up ok and doors open but when CD is selected the clamp doesn’t move , CD is displayed but no sound as if it stuck and can’t move . Radio and tape works as do the units controls , is there anything I can do ?
You could try to remove the back cover, you do this by removing 3 torx screws at the top, and 2 screws at the lower left and right.
Then remove the cover by pulling out from the bottom, it is held in place along the edge of the 2 black mirror plates behind the glass doors. A litle wriggeling and it should come loose.. Then right at the middle and at the top, there is a large white gear-wheel mounted vertically, you can try to turn this by hand to see if the clamper actually is stuck, or if it is something else..
There is a small clamper switch that is set in 2 positions depending on the gear wheel position, you can see it when you turn the wheel.. This switch can be very dirty and disturb how the clamper works.. you can clean the contacts with a sheet of normal printer paper dipped in alcohol cleaner. Dont use sand paper as it will just make it worse and worse over time.. Just press the switch together by hand and move the paper between the 2 contacts, both the up and down position.

What happens, if you push the load button ? Opens the clamper ? If yes, closes the clamper , if you push the load button again ? If not, moves the clamper a little bit ? If yes, support the clampers movement slightly by hand to overrule the breaking off moments.
If this don´t works, please follow Weebyx !!
