Hi!
I am new to this forum and could use your help. I am a long-time owner of an RX2 and am fortunate to have both MMC 2 and MMC 4 cartridges in great condition. Recently I disassembled and removed the dustcover and heard a part drop. I recovered it and looked it up in the service manual and discovered it was a roller.
My questions:
1. Where does the roller go? It is shown as a part in the service manual but it is unclear where it goes.
2. Is there only one roller or two? I found one and the service manual shows only one.
Thanks,
rahsaan
If you're referring to a small part that resembles a tiny metal spool, it goes between the dust cover and the metal pin that props the cover open. There are two. As you look at the table from the front, they are at either extreme side, toward the back.
I guess you've probably learned the hard way what I also had to learn the hard way: never take an RX2 dust cover off!
That's what I thought. Yes, I shall avoid disassembly in the future
I made the mistake and took it all apart to clean it.I know they were in the top cover but put it together without them and it doesn't stay open.
The small rollers in the photo,(that now seems to be removed from your post), go between the ends of the spring and the dustcover.

Thank you Dillen, I remember the spring was hard to pull out because of the pressure. I put the spring in upside down because the metal end would have dug into the plastic lid. After assembly there was not enough pressure to hold the lid open. I cleaned out some sort of fine grease or oil inside the slot where the spring ran parallel to the 2 long lid pins. Is there a type of oil or grease that should be on the hinge rod before I reassemble it correctly? Thanks, Glen
And, I learned this the hard way as well--DO NOT remove the dust cover!
