Hi, I have purchached a 3 year old Beosound 5 with Beomaster 5 and CD ripper. The system is replacing my 23 years old Beocenter 2300, connected to Beolab 8000 (approx. 8 years old). My problem is that the sound on the Beosound 5 is not as good as on the old Beocenter 2300. It is obvious, that when I am playing a CD on the Beocenter 2300 and have the same music on both Beomaster 5 harddisc and CD-ripper, the music is much more soft when played on the 2300, than when played on the Beosound 5. For testing, I am switching the powerlink cable from Beolab 8000, between the socket in Beocenter 2300 and in Beomaster 5. When played on the Beosound system the music seems to be a little like “from inside a can”. Sound setting on both systems is neutral. Does anyone has a an idea of what I could try to do?
Hi,
I have both Beomaster 5/Beosound 5 and a Besound 9000 together with Beolab 5. I can confirm that the soundquality from Beosound 5 is more "treble" or "bright" than with Besound 9000 (cd-changer). I also like the sound from Besound 9000 more than from Beosound 5. The only reason I still keep the Beosound 5 is the easy handling when flipping around with all 300 CD:s.
The soundquality in the Beosound 5 is a little bit too "forward" and "shrill". I hope someone else also can confirm this when comparing it with other Beosound-products.

I have a BS9000 and BS5 and BL1, and I don't think the two sources sound any different when playing the same CD vs. lossless rip of the same song. I do have the speakers connected to the BS9000 so maybe that's a factor. However, I have, from time to time, connected the speakers directly to the BM5 to see if it might sound different (and to try various "master only" BS5 capabilities), and I don't really hear anything different. *Maybe* there is an every so slight extra "brightness" when connected directly to the BS5 vs. BS9000. However, I doubt if I'd be able to pick it out in a blind test.
