I have been offered a 9 month old Bv 12-65 but I was thinking of a New Avant 55!

What do you think? New or Old?

What about the re-sell ability of the 12?

I would think more about the use ability than the re sell ability . You're gonna have it for 3-5 years so you may as well enjoy it.

I love plasma however 65 is too big for me so I would have the avant.

9 months isn't 'old' and has been said, you need to decide on suitability for your needs, not resale value.  Do you want/need 4K picture and other features of the Avant 55"?  Do you have the space for the 12-65?  Does the BV12 have the features you want from a TV over the next 3-5 years or more? How much discount does the 12-65 have from a new price and how does it compare with a new Avant (with its new remote too of course)?

Dave.

As I said in another thread, I quickly and readily ditched my Avant 55" for a BV12-65 last December and have not looked back. Avant suffered from a few issues, particularly fast panning.

The colours are deeper and richer on the BV12-65 due to the plasma panel. Blu-rays look stunning. Plus the 12-65 sits fairly flush on the wall. My BV12-65 is far older than 9 months!

I'm not fussed about "re-sell ability" as I don't intend to take the BV12-65 off the wall and sell any time soon. Very pleased with the TV.

Hi Moxxey,

I have a Beovision 7-55 Mark II (3D). I am considering to buy a 12-65 from my dealer. Do you think this i a good thing to do, or should I keep the 7-55? PQ is really good on the 7-55 mark II.

Regards
Martin

Moxxey  have you used the 3D yet? If so how good is it?

Personally, I'd pick a high end plasma like the BV12, based on the excellent Panasonic glass, over an LED/LCD set any day. While LED/LCDs have improved markedly since the beginning, at least on the expensive ones with local dimming, they still do not approach the contrast and color of a good plasma.

Jeff

I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus. Sad

Personally, no. I was lucky to be able to compare a BV12-65 versus a BV7-55 MKII at my dealer, around this time last year, when the dealer was planning to shift both ex-demo TVs and I preferred the BV7-55 MKII panel over the BV12-65, primarily for sport. If you watch a lot of sport, the BV7-55 definitely excels due to the sharper picture, fast refresh rate. Perhaps for movies, the BV12-65 has the slight edge due to the richer and deeper colours.

But, the differences are fairly minimal, as the BV7-55 MKII is frankly superb. I'd keep the BV7-55 for a another year or so, see what happens with future technology such as 4K, OLED.

No. I think I used 3D - once - on my BV11, decided it was pointless (for me), never bothered again! I don't have any 3D glasses.
