Hi,

I am a new commer to this forum. We resecently exchanged our old Beiovision LX2502 (at least 25 years old) with a LED TV from Samsung (UH40H5515). We have a pair of CX50s that we have been using as side speakers. Is it possible to still use these speakers with the new TV? If so how should I connect them?

I have understood that they are passive speakers and need some kind of amplification to work.

Thanks in advance for your support.

Hans

Welcome to the forum! Yes, the CX50 are passive speakers, so you will need an amplifier between the TV and them. I couldn't find information on your model Samsung, but many TVs will have an audio output you can configure as fixed or variable. If you just want to use a simple basic amplifier with no volume control, you can set the TV to variable output and use the TV volume control as a preamplifier. If you want to use a reciever or integrated amplifier with a built in volume control, you can set the TV output to fixed and change the volume with the amplifier instead. In other words, you have a lot of flexibility. Before making your decision, please check your TV menu to see what audio options are present. Good luck and let us know what you choose.
