I am posting this as a follow on to last year's Linn Listening Lounge.

I was invited to join a talk being given last night. The event was over subscribed however I was able to secure a cancellation.

About 75 customers and prospects attended. I would classify myself as "suspect" except I do buy their studio recordings !

The event was where Ivor Tiefenbrun was speaking. He is the founder and chairman of Linn.

The talk was an interest contrast to the one Tue gave some of us in 2012.

Ivor has been in the music business some 40 years. He has very clear technical principles and strategies. And watching face as he sat, eyes closed, listening to a Beethoven recording, it is clear he loves music.

The first half of the evening was him given a potted history of himself, Linn, and their design approach. This was followed by a Q&A and then some demo sessions which were lessons on active listening.

In answer to the question "Which product are yo proudest of, and which of your competitors' products do you wish you had made?" He said:

1/ my children

2/ none ... And went on to elaborate for 10 minutes (at least)

.. He aggressively invites comparison shopping as he believes they are the best

.. He believes their philosophy of owning all th elements in the chain starting with the source puts Linn in the best position to optimise the pitch accuracy of the reproduction process

All in all an interesting evening

And I did by some more music Smile

Here is Robert the Linn Asia Pacific evangelist standing next to Ivor in front of a rapt audience

Thanks for the report.

I like the LINN's community and his Chairman.

People who are passionnante about music.

The B&O's chairman is not acting in passion for the brand. Just my feeling. Wink

I had asked someone in a thread what they thought Linn's Magic Sauce was - but they never replied. However perhaps this announcement is IT !

BeoLit 12 édition blanche .... The Boom Boom Box

Then why do they have the living room tour?

I remember thinking wtf is that about, and it wasn't until I read the B&O book that I understood why they did do things such as the living room tour - it's about passion for music and passion for the brand.

Although I don't care for Sir Paul etc, I get the message.
