Dear members,
I have just gotten my Beogram 6000 type 5502. I've noticed that when there is no record on the platter, then the tonearm moves all the way to the end but does not automatically return. Does anybody know what the cause may be?
Thanks!
Kai
Possibly the end switch not activating or working, or the tone arm cannot move the whole length of travel for some reason. Do you hear a "click" from the microswitch when the tone arm reaches the end?

Thanks for the reply. Does the Beogram 6000 have these microswitches? I haven't opened it yet but thought that only the 4000 used this sort of design. Am I wrong here?
Yes there is (designated "ES" in the schematic). It does exactly the same thing as pressing the STOP button. If the latter works, your problem is in the ES switch itself or something mechanical.
Hi mika,
My BG6000 type 5502 has exactly the same problem !
Plays a record, I can hear the click of the micro-switch, the arm lifts, drive motor stops.....and that is where it all ends without the carriage return to its resting position.
There is no audible attempt on the carriage motor or anywhere in the table that would suggest an automatic return, so I would rule out a mechanical problem.
I have gone through the whole 'electronic switch' circuit and simply can not find a faulty components.......but what the hell is wrong ???????
