Hi
Could anyone please point me in the right direction for a Beogram 4000 User Manual, In English, Please.
I've just had a nightmare experience with buying one off of Ebay; Was supposedly working when it left the seller, but due to their complete lack of caring in packaging the item, it appears to have arrived in Kit form.
To say I'm angry is an understatement, didn't bother to pack the item properly, or even put fragile on the box, subsequently, it's arrived with the buttons detached, the cover cracked, and the two play arms meeting at the ends, rather than parallel as they should be, and the platter doesn't appear to be attached, and the teak surround appears to have become detached, but because I don't know how to move the tone arm carrier, I cannot remove it.
I've taken loads of pictures, and even the guy from UPS couldn't believe the guy sent it in such a state.
So any help would be gratefully received

Don't bother. Just send it back for a full refund, including shipping as it is not as described. If it's that bad, I expect the bearings could be damaged plus a whole lot more trouble if it wasn't dismantled for shipping or secured. If the lid is cracked, the resale value has plummeted and it will be worth nothing like what you probably paid for it. Take lots of pictures, including the box it came in and open a case via eBay.
If you decide to keep this trashed deck, the user and service manuals are here on Beoworld for Silver and Gold members.
Dave.
Thanks Dave
You've just confirmed what I was probably going to do anyway, It really upsets me though, as you rarely see ones in working condition, But the Seller and UPS sorted that one out for me.
I hate it with Ebay; Normally I have no problems, and if I ever send anything, I always make sure it won't move about in the box, but if you saw the pictures I took you'd be disgusted.
I didn't really want to go through Ebay, but I'm going to speak to the guy and see what he says, and if he says to claim on the insurance I took out on the postage, then I'll go the Ebay case route.
Thanks for the reply, and watch this space.
Mine arrived broken but my old dealer fixed it beautifully. The seller had not secured the platter properly which broke loose.
Peter
Hi Peter
Thanks for the reply, but I thought I'd post a picture of how this deck arrived with me, I've been offered a full or partial refund, I'm going for the full refund, as I can't imagine how much this would cost to repair; More than I paid I would imagine.
Anyway, Many Thanks for your replies
Regards
Paul
Hi Blydenstein,
after a really long search I found the user manual on the web, in English :)
I would like to share but I don't know how to upload it into the website.
Any suggestion?

If you send it to 'Peter' by e-mail (click on his name on a thread) he will add it to the Beoworld products section.
EDIT: just checked and the user manual is already here in the products section - available to Gold and Silver members. It's not in numerical order but it is there.
.
I must be very stupid as I cannot find this manual in English - there are some training notes but no user manual - any ideas?

You will find it HERE

Hi Paul,
I agree with Dave wholeheartedly- even though you dislike E-Bay ,this is where their guarantee comes in .
I would take nothing less than a full refund ,because "goods not as described".
I believe if you were to keep this deck, you're just letting yourself in for more heartache and stress.
And if my experience is anything to go by , it will be worth more to fix it than what it cost you (which you have already concluded.)
Just as an aside, I went down this path a few years ago when I bought privately a 4000 from a "local" guy and the parallel tone arms developed a problem. He wouldn't give me a refund, so I sent it to the only available service agents and It was gonna cost me $1200 AUS to repair it,which I didn't have at the time.
Noel.
I also had the experience of trying to buy one from a B&O seller in the U.K.- but he maintained that the bearings were very heavy, and didn't travel well-he'd only sell it to me if I signed a disclaimer to absolve him of any damage during shipping .Needless to say,I didn't go ahead with the purchase.
Hello again,
Just found this on Beoworld Beogram 4000 page:
Beoworld says: Best looking B&O deck and massively over engineered. Very complex though - the later DC 4002s are much easier to get working. Very fragile if transported badly.
Just curious, where did the deck come from?
i.e. it was shipped from? and delivered to where ? (UK ?)
