Greetings all,

My BeoGram 7000 CD player shows problems with its drawer:

drawer sometimes closes really hard, at other times again quite smooth and normal?

Has anyone experiened that kind of problem and found a fix for it ??

I would be very grateful for a lead as the player otherwise works flawlessly.

thank you for taking the time to respond :-):-)

Much apreciated - cheers, ALF

Take the top of the cd7000

In the middle you have the drawer switch.

Take a look and see if it works right and carefully adjust it if you can back again.

It is 99% the drawer switch..

Clean it with a piece of (double layered)paper soaked in isopropylalcohol, that fixed my drawer that opened to hard..

Just remove power to the unit, and you can apply pressure to the 2 "springs" with the paper between the middle and "left/right" spring.. Don't use sandpaper as it will make the contant wear quickly again.

You can just use the drawer manually to activate the 2 stages of the switch, and use the paper in between.. Just pull the paper up/down when it is wet.

Hi weebyx,

Nice thought and after several treatments it still performs eratic without a noticeable pattern ?!

I noticed when the drawer is at both its end-positions the drawer-motor pully still turns when it shouldn't !

If it gets to its end-position smoothly the motor stop just a fraction before the drawer reaches its end-position.

I wonder if a cap that may be part of the motor control is out of spec ??

If that is likely, which one could it be ???

any ideas are most welcome

cheers, ALF

Hmmm I have never had a CD7000 where this fix hasn't worked, but offcourse something else could be wrong.

Have you tried to messure if the switch actually works ? You can use a multimeter on diode mode to do that.

Hi weebyx,

I attached a pic - probably too big - which shows the switch with its 3 springs, just to be sure we are talking about the same thing here.

I tried to slightly bend one of the springs to ensure earlier contact is made to stop the drawer motor earlier - it had some impact but i can not see any other adjustment possible.

Yes, the switch works as otherwise the drawer would not move at all.

Sorry about that tripple reply but the android OS has seems not quite compatible with this software here ?!

As said previously, I suspected a cap out of spec or a transistor on its way out ??

As soon as one of the springs makes contact the motor runs for s set time until it stops,

If it runs longer than necessary the drawer slams into it end-position.

If some other thing comes to mind please let me know - if not, I willhave to do the bending trick.

Cheers, ALF

Yes, that is the correct switch..

If you have cleaned it thoroughly like I said, with paper and alcohol, and it still does not work, then I cannot help you anymore, sorry... I have never had any other issues than the switch, so I have never had to look into more electronical issues..

I will have another go at that switch, cleaning it again - still trying to work out a performance pattern of the drawer as it seems temperature related ???

But I wouldn't bet my life on it though !

Thanks once again for trying to share experience with me

Best,  ALF
