I have just acquired (in exchange for my 8000's) a pair of BL9's. Very very happy and a HUGE improvement from the 8000's! I am finding for music the BL9's sound better without the BL2. I haven't watched a movie yet so not sure how the 9's and 2 will sound in this set-up? The dealer has set the Beovision 11 to only play the 9's with 'music', and to play the 9's AND the 2 with TV.
Just interested in other peoples thoughts who also have this same set up
That's an interesting question. I think I remember a post where Geoff Martin said that, in terms of driver performance, volume of displacement, etc. one BL9 had the equivalent low bass potential as one BL2. Now if you had it setup for movies the system could have the bass level set higher say on the BL2 and not interfere with music if it had it turned off for them. Or have the BL2 dialed back in music mode.
If you try this I will be very interested in your observations! I was trying to decide whether or not to get a BL2 for my 8000s, as in the new huge living room they just got lost, but the 9s came along and I got them instead.

I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus.
I think several people here have even recently said that a BL2 is overkill with BL9's. There was another thread asking a similar question recently with a discussion about the BL2 and other speaker combinations. I'm looking at buying some BL9's to replace my BL8000 and BL2 with my BV7-55.
The BL2 is awesome when I play music though!
Dave.
There is no need for/sense in using a BL2, when you have a pair of BL9's.
With the BL9's you have two more capable 'subs' already in the setup.
Look out for the Q/A in this article:

There is a tv - and there is a BV

Hi Jeff.
I wonder if what you are talking about is how my system is set up? The B&O installer has a pair of 9's himself, so i'd imagine him to being very familiar with these speakers. Initially we listened to music through the 9's and the BL2 and both of us agreed the BL2 was the weak link in the quality of sound (he doesn't own a BL2 himself - just a pair of 9's). So, he adjusted some settings (looked technical!!) on the 11-46 which meant on music/CD only the 9's would work. On TV/film (tested on Casino Royale) the 2 absolutely adds much welcomed added bass/rumble. I don't think the 9's alone would be enough for movies, so do think a sub can still be advantageous with the 9's. Just not for music.
Prior to the 9's, for 7 or 8 years i had a pair of 8000's (mk2) and BL2. I was never hugely impressed with the 8000's to be honest, even with the BL2 attached.
Music on the BL9's is amazing! Movies on the BL9's is very good... but add the BL2 and it just gets better and better!
Dave Farr: I'm looking at buying some BL9's to replace my BL8000 and BL2 I've just gone from BL8000+BL2 to BL9+BL2 (BL2 just used for movies) and cannot believe the difference in quality of sound. The 9's just sound wonderful. The only thing i miss about the 8000's were their looks!

Thanks for the link - i'll take a look when i have a bit more time.
First impressions though are the sub is definitely advantageous in movies. Maybe with adjustment of settings via the BV11-46 the BL9's could suffice without the BL2, but i personally feel the BL2 adds a good 'thump' to the occasion. Music (CD) and the BL2 ruins the occasion. Obviously this is all in my limited experience with my new B&O kit
