Morning All - new member here from the UK

Just registered after a period of browsing (some great info on here - thanks for that)

I've just purchased a TX2 (not arrived yet) with a retipped cartridge so looking forward to that arriving. It'll be nice to get some of the old vinyl out of the loft. Lets hope the carriers are gentle with it!

I'll be playing that through my Overture (which I've had from new - the one with the cassette mechanisms) via a Behringer UFO202 as a preamp - leads ordered up so should be good to go. It'll be handy to have the option of recording some vinyl to digital while I'm playing them - turns out that whilst the laptop isn't connected to supply power that I can power it from a usb power supply (I'm going to use a spare iPhone wall plug) so that will do two things with one unit.

Toying with the idea of some B & O speakers at some point (I,ve been using some Mordant Shorts via a B&O power amp for the last 20 odd years as I couldn't afford the B&O ones when I bought the Overture) the only problem I'm going to have is that the unit is wall mounted and the speakers are on the other side of the room so will be a problem getting cables to them - the existing cables were built into the ceiling years ago and concrete/wood floors so no chance of running new ones :-( Maybe need to move the Overture but looks good on the wall and out of harms way there.

So thanks for all the good info, standing by for the delivery man!

You could use passive B&O speakers of course which use the same cables - Mordaunt Short speakers are usually pretty good though - why are you changing? I use B&W DM10s in my link system which must be 30 years old! Welcome to Beoworld!

Thanks for the reply and welcome Peter

I didn't consider the possibility of passive - duh, that would work of course. I was thinking of the nice tall tubular ones (8000's?) and forgot about the passive ones. I've been looking at wireless but can't quite get my head round that concept.

My current speakers are really only bookshelf speakers and although they sound nice I don't think they are as good as they could be. Plus it would be nice to have an all B&O system (even though its going to be 'vintage' / second hand) . I have another idea to repurpose the MS speakers in a small home studio which they would be quite good for I think.

Which are the best passive ones to look out for? I see there are a few variants of the redline range which look like they would do the job nicely. They would need to be wall mounted due to the room arrangement.

Our music department at school back in the late 70's was fully equipped with B&O kit which I remember as being nice sounding and quite 'cool' in those days. Lots of wood veneer and aluminium.

Cheers

Redline 60.2 are good when wall mounted. You could also consider Beovox 5000 wall mounted speakers which certainly would look quite something.
