Can anyone advise me? Connected to my beocentre 9500 was a beogram 4500 turntable and a recently added beogram cdx all playing through two beolab 8000 speakers. Now my beocentre has failed what can I feed these through? Do I update to something newer or try and buy another beocentre 9500? Ideas please....

Or fix your BC9500?  What happened when it 'died'.  Did you hear any pops or bangs, any smoke?

It depends on what else you want the amp section to do.  Do you want a tuner, tape player, what connections do you want - ipod lead etc?  You could go for a smaller Beomaster such as a BM7000 or 6500.

Hi Dave, ive had it in to a service centre due to two main things. First the cd player stopped recognising cd's and then it suddenly came up with 'code' displayed. They have told me the lazer has failed and they cant get any replacement and that two other faults were identified inside, one was the 'capacitor' and one with the 'programmer', both parts not available. Ive had the unit second hand for just over 10 years with no issues and I love it! Going forward I really do not need a tape player so thought about maybe a beomaster 4500??

OK, first off, the service centres always say that about older stuff as they can't be bothered supporting it.  These are known issues on the BC9500 and are fixable.  One problem is usually a diode replacement or capacitors which in most cases fix this.  There are plenty of threads here on Beoworld regarding them.  Ignore what they say about 'it needs a new laser'.  This is sometimes the case but not always.  In any case, laser replacements are available.

A BM4500 is an excellent choice but tend to be expensive (and have glass panels that can fall off - easily fixable unless it breaks).

EDIT:  in addition, this thread regarding the 'code' message may help - http://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/p/9439/82578.aspx#82578

And, for the CD not reading, this may be an issue with the clamping of the CD.  The centre spindle may need repairing/modifying.  There are threads on this if you search the forum for known faults on BC9000, 9500 etc.

This is regarding the BC9000 and I don't know if the spindle is similar:  http://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/p/7271/64905.aspx#64905

Most of 9500 I had were ok after changing C2103 cap from CD, muting relay, processor board lithium battery and resoldering of rectifier/filter board. And  of cource casette+door belts., prehaps glasspanels need to be reglued (dont Drop them if they are!)

Dave.

No, it is quite different, it has clamping system working in cooperation with CD door. You can not see it from users view. If CD is not spinning correctly, it can be heard.
