I'm a bit fed up with not having any proper speaker terminals on my s80's. My somewhat beefy speaker cables have a really hard time fitting into the tiny plugs.
Thus I'm considering a modification and fitting something like this to them:

I realise that this would alter the appearance of the speakers to be more like the s80.2 of which I also have a pair - but alas they are not in the dark lovely wood laminate that matches our 50's furniture and lamps so well.
So do you think I would commit an aesthetic crime by fitting the mentioned terminals to my s80's?

I don't think so. They are round the back so out of sight in normal use. If they suit your cables better, then why not? A beefed up speaker outlet might not be a bad idea as the ones on mine are really flimsy and loose.
If you're going to be working on them anyway, why not recap the crossovers too?
Dave.
Yeah, mine are flimsy and loose too so I regularly have to fiddle with them to get a proper connection.
I've already recapped them and refoamed, so they are in tiptop shape:)

I have replaced the terminals on every pair of Beovox I own: M70, P30, P45, S40, S45-2, and yes, even CX50. My advice: do it. Just make sure you plan it, because, as with the P30, the cup I use almost didn't fit.
I had thought the S80s were like the MC120, which do have binding posts for bare wire or banana plugs!

Why not just use the B&O cable - B&O tried all sorts of cable when testing these speakers and felt that the cable supplied was more than adequate.
But if you are convinced that you want to use the thicker cable, changing the terminals is perfectly reasonable. They are your speakers after all!
