Hello,

I'm slowly thinking of updating my Beolab 4 that I use connected to a bluetooth receiver (streaming from a Mac).

I would like your opinion about the 3 solutions I'm thinking of : standalone A9, standalone Beolit 15, or S8 connected to my Loewe UHD TV and use the built in media center for music.

I leave in an apartment and the living room is small; only 20sqm. What would be the best? I like very much the design of the A9 'love affair' but isn't it (like the S8) too much for a small place? Is there a big difference in sound between A9 and S8? I like the Beolit 15 for his discretion but will it have a clear sound or more 'spacial'?

Thank you for your advises.

Nice choices, don't forget the A8 too. Now that really is great for an apartment! Hopefully, it'll get a MKIII update with Bluetooth!

Since music seems to be your thing and you have an apartment. I would choose the a9. You should really consider the 90th anniversary model.

I like the A9 very much but I'm afraid it will be too loud and disturb my neighbors... I forget the A8 because of no bluetooth.

For your size place I would have thought the A9 too big - size and volume.  Maybe the Beolit 15 is the compromise.

Dave.

I think it's very clear that there will be a MKIII A8 with Bluetooth judging by the A9 and BeoLit15's direction and of course, until the A2, the A8 was the best selling of B&O portfolio. Benoit have a word with your showroom, they may know if a MKIII A8 is around the corner. I know that, that is perfect for an apartment! Although the BeoLit15 is a powerful little beast. It really depends on which design appeals to you the most as they are all so totally different!

It's only loud if you turn up the volume! Now I understand that temptation though. Big Smile Unless you mean you want something with less bass response so when you do turn it up it doesn't thump thump your neighbors, then something smaller than the A9 or S8 would be the way to go. If they are coming out with an A8 with BlueTooth, then that is a very stylish unit, especially mounted on its floor stand.

Jeff

I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus. Sad

If no A8 Mk III is on the way and airplay is no option for you: There are so many small and high quality (with aptX codec) bluetooth receivers available (Yamaha, Harman Kardon, Philips...) which can be connected to A8 Mk I or II.

Very good advice Raeuber. A friend of mine has a Logitech one and I was impressed with the quality and ease of use from my iPhone!

Amazon themselves are selling the MKII A8 for £580 right now!

Till now I stream music with a bluetooth receiver connected to my BL4. I would like to improve a bit the sound quality (essentially have some more bass) but I have as well a (psycho) problem with cables... I try to hide them as much as I can but the less cables is the best for me. Wink Right now to the back of my sofa I have a multi power plug, 2 power cables for both BL4, 2 audio cables, the bluetooth and the power adapter... So I don't want to add again an extra receiver to an A8.

Here's an easy solution get the s8, I had my beolab 14s connected to a bluetooth adapter worked flawlessly every time with my smart phone acting as the source and volume controller.

Beoplay A2
