Hello!

I`m thinking to replace my 4 Beolab 6000 as rear speaker.

The S8 seams to do a good job as rear speakers, and they take up little space.

Is it possible to connect 2 BeoPlay S8 kit as rear speaker (surround & rear surround) and address the 2 subwoofers as ordinary subwoffers.

We are doing some rebuilding in our living room and small rear speakers would to the job :)

Have anyone tried this solution, and will it sound good?

Best regards

Marcus

If you can add 2 BL11s to a set up and use them as separate channels then I would say yes you could.

I haven't tried this though.

The problem wirh using the S8-set/sets in this way, is that the sub and the satelites are designed to match another - the bas management is done in the electronics of the sub-base.

When you adress the satelites as rear/surround speakers, you will have to do the bas management in the BV7 - I am not quite sure how well this will work with the BV7?

You would have to find an equivalent speaker in the speakers list/the setup, when installing them.

Otherweise they could be 'too weak' for a full range signal from e.g. a 'HD soundtrack' on a Bluray disc.

Note: in a BSys4-based BV this could easily be setup, as these BV's have a much better bas management built-in.

I would not change my BL6000 for the S8 satelites as rear/surround speakers with a BV7 - and would rather spend the money for a (better) sub.....if I did not already had one.

If you want/need smaller speaker (on the wall) go for the BL3's!

Thank you Millemissen for your info.

I did`t thougt that would be a problem :( but I glad you told me :)

I dont wanna change my BV7/BS3 solution, so I have to rethink my speaker change.

Maybe I go for the BL4, the BL3 is out of my budget right now. Its the second life market I am looking for and the BL3 is 3 times the price of a BL4.

My subwoofer is a wall mounted model, and I like it for for music, and think its enough for movies as well. I thought 2 woofers would be more satisfying, and would fill the room better :)

Have been looking for a BL2, but many people dislike it, or like it, so I don't now if is a good choise. What do you think of that solution? and maybe keep my BL6000?

I would get the BL2 to match your existing setup.

Are you sure this will be the case? You have separate input for rear, left, centre/sub if connected to a BV. Shouldn't a BL 14.5 sound too week also in that case?

In that case - with a BV7 (or a non-B&O tv) - the sub (or rather the DSP in the sub) does the bas management for the entire setup/all satelites.

There are two different PowerLink settings on the sub - see the userguide.
